Hi, Everyone:

I very recently signed up after a long search for objective advice on various aspects of vaping life, having switched from tobacco over 3 years ago. I've been constantly frustrated by one defective device after another that quits working right when retailers' 15-30-day return period expires. I've also just acquired my 2nd mod (smok Osub 40w mini box kit).

Need information on proper maintenance and product customization.

Nice 'meeting' you all and hope to chat frequently very soon.

Best Regards,

Crissie

Welcome @Crissie

I am surprised you've had so many problems with your hardware. How have you been getting information on batteries and tanks? (or kits). There's a lot of good vape gear out there, it's just many people never find it because the industry is awash with bad products at bad prices.

Maybe you've got it right this time? Let's hope so. :)

Thanks for the fast reply. My fingers are crossed tight, but my mind has serious doubt that I got it right this time, having been without expert help. My first Aspire K4 mod gushed eliquid from the bottom of its cartomizer with every drag. I KNOW it wasn't physically defective or mis-assembled, because I detached and filled it with water to let it sit on dry paper towels for at least an hour - TWICE. Not 1 drop of fluid was found. But once reattached to battery, WHOOSH! Same type of BS with every regular ecig battery I've had, except Aspire 1100 and ego twist VV <sigh>.

For now, SMOKE Osub 40w mini-box mod seems to work fine, except one scary incident that was fixed by pushing a pin into a 'Reset' hole on back just below power button. (Why would a brand new device require that procedure anyway?)

Meanwhile, I'd like to know best vape juice brands for high-voltage output.

Thanks again for all your help in advice :).

Crissie

(PS: Did some research a while back and discovered 99% of ALL ecig products on current market are cheap pieces of trash for 2 main reasons: A) Brand new industry with many wrinkles to work out; and B) Overseas manufacture where standards are much lower than U.S. regs.

This is true to an extent, yes. Nearly everything is made in China, but there are US companies selling junk for maximum profit because they don't care, they just want to sell stuff.
There are a lot of products which do work but until you get down to the ground floor of the community, it's nearly impossible to work out anything, which is why you are here, which is good. :)

howdy! and welcome!

this is a pretty great community for getting info on vaping in general as well as insight on devices that will do what they are supposed to :) keep in mind, with devices, there is a huge spectrum available - there are some solid, consistent performers in the mass produced market as well as some shiny poo nuggets, the key is getting some info prior to pulling the trigger and figuring out what works best for your vape style

Ok, I have to admit, you've peaked my curiosity. Since there are thousands of different products in the current vape market, what type of research did you do exactly to conclude that 99% of all ecig products are cheap pieces of trash?

Welcome and glad you joined.
Best advice I can give is start simple and try to learn every basic part of vaping, then step up to advance ways of vape. A new sub ohm tank is a tricky setup for any experienced vaper. A simple Eleaf Istick 40 TC with an RDA is basic.

Maintenance and care:
Eleaf Istick 40 TC--keep it clean and fully charged after each vape, should last a normal vaper a year or more.
Dripper/RDA -- Clean it when changing wick and/or coils.
