ty for the welcome. trying to avoid asking my billion and one questions that can probably only be answered once i try vaping out. i.e. trying to avoid the dreaded newbie-spammage. (i run/admin a very active forum myself, though on an entirely diff. topic). i'm really really glad to have found this place though. i'm sure as soon as my order comes i will be posting here [in a panic/delighted/excited/asking dumb questions] a lot more.

i guess i'm just nervous... that it will be too complicated, too expensive, too... not as satisfying as smoking... but i mean, you guys like it, right? my problem with quitting hasn't ever been willpower (i'm addicted don't get me wrong...) but i just have never really WANTED to quit, cause i like smoking. *blush* but i have spent the money now which is a good enough motivation to give this an honest try, i guess.

I still see myself as a smoker. I am a smoker who vapes instead!!

Personally, I smoked 40-50 roll ups a day for 23 years. I stopped the day my minipipe came and have not had a cig since. I did experience withdrawal symptoms from the smoke and throat complications for the first month or so - that is where my will power kicked in. I thought - I've got my nicotine and my 'smoke' so whatever it is I'm withdrawing from I say 'goodbye to bad rubbish!!'

Good luck

Thanks Rusty~

it's posts like that that made me decide to take the leap. i'm kinda desperate here. i love smoking, i'm addicted, i haven't got the motivation to quit, but... it's just so ridiculously bad for you and society is SO unfriendly to smoking. and i don't particularly like being smelly, lmao.

*crosses fingers* i hope this works out for me and the husband.

I never had any desire to quit smoking for any reason other than to save money. The whole reason I decided to give this a try was for that purpose. My first day however I ended up only smoking 2 cigs and quit right after.

Congrats on taking the leap and welcome to ECF.

Congratulations on the switch. I always said I liked smoking as well but now after 1.5 months without I do not like the smell or the taste. vaping however, that is a totally different story. Good luck and be sure you ask any questions that come up. You will find that everyone here, even when they disagree on one thing or another, are all commited to helping other members quit analogs.:D

I never wanted to quit either I loved smoking..oh my god did I love it..playing with the smoke, mouthing it, watching it roll and curl as I exhaled..as such loved not just cigs but cloves, pipes, cigars, hookah, the social aspect of hanging out with others and smoking..
But vaping...it kinda tricks you into not smoking...you start this and you get all that other stuff and the hand mouth fixation..and soon you're reaching for your e-cig because it just tastes better and is new and is an amazing little gadget and you kinda forget about the regular cig...and next thing you know you try to light a regular cig and they just taste aweful....you kinda bamboozle your way into quitting... and it's awesome..

Welcome to the forum! :) There are always folks here willing to answer questions, too.
This is such a huge two-year compendium of information, though, that chances are good that many of your questions are covered already with no waiting for responses...at least, I think I spent a good ten-plus hours reading 8-owhen I started before I even posted anything substantial... hoorah for the search functions, too.
(If you haven't read The Wonderful World of Vaping, it's worth a look, even though you've chosen your model already -- and a good one I might add, though cartomizers just rock at 5v....;))

Oh yeah. Ticking all the same boxes here: hand-mouth ritual, social aspect, aesthetic beauty of the smoke, and the taste - which turns out to be better with the (right) eliquids. Sadly, I think my body's missing all the yummy tobacco alkaloids and nicotine's not proving enough (though it does for many), but man, I am not missing the crummy lungs and terrible cardio endurance. And the smell, etc.

thyestean, drozd, paranoyd, and all those who i already responded to *thank you* for the warm welcome. drozd, i'm a clove smoker atm (though i like reg cigs too) and your post is really encouraging. sounds like me to a T. :D

it seems like so many of you quit smoking regular cigs (analogs, right) SO FAST. o_O is that typical with vaping? i work at home and smoke in the house and as such... well, let's just say i'm not one of those 'social smokers', lol. i feel anxious without a pack in sight even if i'm already smoking lmao. i mean, i don't smoke as much as some people, maybe 1-1 1/2 packs a day, but, yeah.

oooh i'm getting too excited now, i'm wishing i'd bought express shipping. :D

madame psych,

thanks--i'm trying to refrain from posting lots of new topics, haha, because y'all have SO much here (which is awesome). i find when i switch from menthols to cloves (something i do every few months) i miss... something, presumably all the crazy chemicals in most regular cigs. (found the same thing when i switched to american spirits, too)... but i can kinda push through that part... but yes, the act of smoking, the smoke itself, taking a smoke break with friends... it's all so tied into my life. doesn't help that i can't really chew gum either, haha.

and saving money (assuming i do, and that seems likely) is of course very attractive too! though right now i'm thinking... i just spent X amount of dollars on something i have no clue if i'll like. *nervous* but the V4L guys on here seem so so nice and everyone's so enthusiastic... I mainly work from home the last couple of years and smoked between 1 and 3 packs a day. So I was by no means a social smoker either. I was shocked that making the transition was so easy for me. It's all about finding the right product for you.
