So ive been reading around the forum looking for all the advise etc i need in making my first real e cig purchase... I have been using a cheap tobacco store unit for a couple weeks now and decided i need something better. I was planning to buy a Black Cherry kit after research i had done a couple months ago, but it seems there order processing is down and after reading here its likely a good thing!

So ive decided i am leaning toward the purchase of an ego set up. But some of the options etc ive read about through the forum are a bit over my head. I like the idea of a manual setup vs auto, and would like to stick with a smaller battery at first rather than going big right off the bat.

Could someone point me towards a good deal on a kit with something like what im looking for?

Also i am normally a camel/ marb light smoker, so will likely go with a couple sample size liquids to start off, any suggestions? And i am quite curious to try some flavors as well, cherry sounds like it could be good? again recomendatiosn would be fantastic. I am typically a pack a day smoker, should i try 12, 18mg?

Thanks so much in advance!

I started off with a standard 510, didn't take long to realize that I needed something with a bigger battery. The eGo has been perfect. I did go back to smoking for the past year or so but am working on switching back to vaping. I ended up getting a new eGo C kit and am really loving it. I got one regular length battery and one 1000 mah battery. I just got my kit today and so far I'm liking the length of the 1000 mah better.

I have always purchased my hardware from www.cignot.com and have never had a bad experience. They have great prices and ship amazingly fast! I only ordered my kit late Wed night (about 11pm), got shipping notification Thur morning and USPS delivered today. Not bad for Chicago to California.

I'm a marlboro light 100's smoker, 1-2 packs a day (eek) but I'm not even interested in tobacco flavored liquid. Right now I'm vaping my favorite, Butter Rum from Welcome to Tasty Vapor at 24 mg.

Not sure on a recommendation for a PV for you that is cigarette sized, I don't care for those because they have to be recharged to often for me. I use an eGo sized one. It's about the size of a sharpie marker or small cigar, and the last 4 -5 times longer on a charge.

Starting with a bunch of samples of juice is a great idea, you'll have a better chance at finding ones you like without wasting lot of $$$. I'd suggest getting both 12 & 18 mg juice, if you're juice is to week it'll be hard to give up the analogs.

Sorry I'm in Canada so can't give a recommendation for a good US vendor, but I'm sure you'll get some really soon.

BTW, welcome to ECF, good luck & have fun with your new hobby. & yes, vaping does seem to turn into a hobby.

I would definitely agree with getting an "ego" type model, just not an ego as it is only 3.4 volts which produces colder vapor and comes standard with a smaller battery (mAh rating). The higher the volts, the warmer the vapor, the higher the mAh, the longer time the battery holds a charge.

The suggestion of a Kgo, which is a 3.7 volt model, is a good suggestion. Two other options along that line is the E-Power which is also a 3.7 volt model and the EVO. These three are all about the same physical size as the eGo (sharpie pen) but come with larger mAh batteries (1000+ mAh vs the ego's 650 mAh). Here are some well supported suppliers:

Hello and Welcome to ECF, The one your looking at is a good one. That's where I purchased my wife's,I also have a Kgo and the battery last me a day.I vape 12mg and I smoked Marlboro lights then American Spirit light for over 35yrs.I thought I would like tobacco flavor but did not.I liked menthol, but hated menthol cigs when I smoked.

Several vendors have the KGO. Sweet-Vapes and Virgin Vapors also sell the KGO. Not that there's anything wrong with Hoosier, but in case you want to pick up juice as well.

Dark City has the KGO and you can pick the option for the type of carto you want. It comes out a tad cheaper I think.

SLB KGO Starter Kit

Vapor Station has very good tobacco juices. I'd get the same juice in a high and low nicotine content and then could mix or adjust them to suit you.

I have to be honest, cherry is one of those flavors that does not translate well into e-liquid, and I love fruit flavors, but give it a try, you may like it.

I wouldn't go the tank route yet until you find a juice you like. You're going to be wasting tons of juice that way if you fill up a bunch of big cartos and hate the juice.
