Hi,

I am somewhat new to vaping. I have been using all in ones, but got my first box last night. I got a sigelei kaos spectrum. I really like it, but don’t know what the new settings mean. I understand the wattage, but do not know what ss, Ti1, Ni200, and TCR are.

Thanks!

hi and welcome,
TC is Temperature control. The device can, when using coils of certain materials (Stainless Steel,titanium,Nickel,Ni-chrome) limit the maximum temperature so as not to burn the juice/wicking material or permit a "dry hit".

If you have kanthal, Stainless steel or Ni-chrome coils, wattage mode is fine.

Cheers

Stainless steel, nickel, and titanium coils. All for temp control. Stainless can be run in temp or wattage. Most factory tank coils are kanthal only ran on wattage. I never use temp control, alot of people do. Pretty much you set it to your desired temperature you like to vape at and it will never get hotter than that. And tcr is for fine tuning. Good way to never burn your cotton. I also just got the spectrum and am realy enjoying it. Careful with it. I read the screws on the top of the mod are anchored into thin plastic so that's the weak point fyi.

Welcome to ECF. For now just stick with power (wattage) mode. What tank are you using?

Not to be a simple me to, but yes I concur and agree. I tried using a Dripbox 2 by Kanger recently. All the stuff for temp control and such kind of got me lost. *chuckles* I knew I was doing alright though when the mod swapped itself over to wattage mode as it sensed the Kanthal coil on the stock build.

Now, I'm kind of debating regarding the Dripbox. *chuckles* Yeah, wattage mode can work for most folk new to it. :)

Right now I am using wattage mode. I just want to fully understand all the settings, mainly so I don’t mess it up. [emoji4]

With a new mod I always like to find a demo/review or two, not so much for what the reviewer thinks, but to understand all my settings and how to get there. It's really helpful for me, a picture can be worth a thousand words.

Basically, temp control will allow you to set your vape's temperature by sensing the resistance of the coil and will keep it even and avoid dry hits. It is possible to get TC coils that are drop in coils, but many folks use them on Rebuildable tanks, which is getting more advanced in vaping style. The different settings are there because different wires change resistance at different temperatures, but kanthal fluctuates pretty wildly (or not enough, I can't remember) so it can't be used in TC mode.

Down the line, you might very much enjoy using TC mode, but there is no huge rush...

Good luck,

Anna

Thank you! I am going to stick with wattage and then learn about everything else. I do prefer a cooler vape, so I am hoping that in the future, I can figure that part out. Thank you very much for the help!

I understand that. :) Don't be too fearful though. Most of these products are forgiving of a fumble or two. Be sure though to exercise good judgment and caution with batteries. That's just a friendly reminder. :)
