Hey guys...I just made my first batch of DIY liquid. Professional flavoring (TPA) from onestopdiyshop.com and the rest of the materials came from there as well.

Here is how i mixed it:

5ML total, 24mg nicotine
2.5 ml 48mg nicotine
1.5 ml Propylene Glycol
1.0 ml flavoring (20% flavor)
No water/alcohol added

Numbers looked right when i used the ejuice calculator on my ipod touch.

Anyone have any opinions or tips that I should do for next time when I create a larger batch?

I also have Lorann's flavorings I need to use/try as well, but I assume I'm going to be using much less flavoring (on top of the fact the bottles are smaller).

I have a bottle of straight VG...and bottles of straight PG as well. I usually do mostly PG because i like the sharpness of it and I don't need clouds of vapor as I'm usually at work and don't want to draw attention to myself.

But...i was thinking of cutting a batch here and there with a 80/20 mix of PG/VG and trying that out to see what happens.

You may already know this..but when starting out..till you find the right flavor concentrations you should probably setup some 1-3ml plain pg/vg test batches and just add flavor. It saves on the expensive nic juice if you get a bad batch. It is possible to salvage a bad batch using a strong flavor that will over power a bad flavor, but I agree with Zoidman to err on the side of less flavor first and then you can always step it up. It's much harder to dilute it back down.

I'd also check any Lorann's flavors you might have and see if they contain "Caramel Color" in them..I was killing atties like crazy using Rootbeer and a few others that contained it. I have had good success with both the Pralines and Cream and the English Toffee by Lorann's though..both good flavors.

80:20 is a good blend. It doesn't reduce the TH but adds quite a bit of Vapor.

One other thing I would mention is to label the Bottle with the recipe and not just write it down on a card or in your computer.

Ex:

I used a P-Touch labeler to make this label.

I've made perfect blends, after some fine tuning, only to not be able to locate the recipe card. Or I find three or four recipe cards and can't figure out which goes with what.

It is also nice to work in percentages on your recipe. Makes scaleing up or down easier than having to do the math everytime.

This is a Very Good point that I forgot to mention.

The main reason I moved to PA's flavors verses Lorann is that they don't use artifical coloring. Why do I want to vape Red Dye #5 in my watermelon e-Juice?

That and the fact that Lorann's fruit flavors have a VERY fine line between strong flavor and bitterness.

Here is a thread I did about Fixing my Lorann Cherry mix.

Last thing I forgot, the next time your buying DIY flavors, consider picking up some EM for sweetener.

Perfumers Apprentice - Cotton Candy Flavor

It comes in very handy for Fruit Flavors or to take the edge off other blends.

I wrote it down on my computer and attached my flavor and date to the bottle I made so I know which recipe I used. I did work with percentages (somewhat) when I did this mixture. 100% PG, 50% nicotine cut down, 20% flavoring, 0% water/alcohol added. I also played with the amount created to keep as many even numbers or easy to work with numbers for mixing (ending in 0 or 5)

Good thing i only bought two of Lorann's flavorings. I want to give Kim @ OneStopDIYShop my opinion on both Mango flavorings since she got them in stock for me. But I didn't want to mix both yet until I was sure the one was good.

And yeah...i know i have more stuff to get...but i figured i'd be good for now with the ones i wanted to mix. Next order (maybe i'll request a few other flavors too =P)

I plugged your numbers into Dan's (Scubabatdan's) calculator and they are right on the money.

Stick with vaping your 5mil until it's gone. That way it has time to age and see if you like it at the end. Most say that 20% is at the top of the range for flavor.

:)

Thanks buddy...i figured my numbers were about right...i tend to be very obsessive about getting things right when it comes to mixing anything or anything like this in my life. I'll crack it open tomorrow and see how it goes.

Ok...so sat for 24 hours...now im trying it.

Tastes a little too sugary sweet. Mango flavor is there, just its overpowered by a sugary sweetness. Can't vape this all day, but for someone who likes sweet stuff they would probably like this.

Going to try a 15% mixture with 0 nicotine tonight and try the Lorann's flavoring mixture too.

You may want to be cautious adding VG to your DIY recipes as VG is sweeter than PG so keep that in mind when mixing.

Yeah I haven't used VG yet in my mixtures, but I am aware it adds an extra sweetness to it. So when I do I'll make sure to try and take that into account for the flavoring percentages.
