and from what I've read, first of many.

Hello all,
First post here and just basically wanted to say HI. I've heard mention of e-cigs off and on for a few months, not giving it much attention or thinking it was anything more than the latest fad that will pass. Very recently I've started digging deeper. I've been a smoker for around 15 years at an average of around a 1/2 pack a day.

What struck my interest in finding out more was last week a coworker who starting using BLU wouldn't shut up about how wonderful they are. She's was pushing them on everyone, must get some king of kickback haha. So with her constant blabbing still in my head I came home Friday Evening to investigate. I started searching the web and one thing led to another, then another, then another, then another, tons of information, choices etc and here I am on Sunday evening having gotten about 6 hours sleep total in that time period because of my curiosity. Oh and BLU did fall by the wayside pretty quickly as the only consistent positive reviews came from their website, most other sources of information information about them has been less than stellar. At least I can credit the name for turning me on to this.

Since researching as much info as my brain can take in I'm definitely trying it. I'm usually a pretty frugal individual but this isn't from a cost perspective per say. I've been making my own cigs for the last 8 months at an average of under 90 cents a pack so I know vaping isn't going to touch that but from the aspect of smell, taste, health affects and other related issues my interest is peaked and I've already made my first purchase. After looking at every kit I could find I narrowed the list down to the 510 disposable, or the 510, Ego, Riva and HELLO regular kits which all got major consideration I decided to just start with a 510 disposable kit. I know it isn't going to last long but I did order 5 extra carts, 1 bottle of extra juice and the kit comes with 3 pre filled carts (which I hear the pre filled usually is subpar but well see). Anyway for around $10 I couldn't see not going this route for my first try. If it doesn't work out I'm out of pocket less than it cost to order a pizza and I've saved more than that by staying at home this weekend researching info, win win either way.

Sorry to be so long winded but that's how I got here today and I feel lucky to have found this place. I know for certain it's played a HUGE roll and already kept me from screwing up totally on my first purchase. I'm sure I'll have issues and questions in the future, good to know where I can go to get help.

Ok turned out to be longer than HI but out of my system now. Next ones will be shorter, promise.

James

Hey James, and welcome to ECF!! Glad you found us. Yep, the Blu does serve a good purpose if it peaks one's interest and leads to finding out what e-cigs/vaping is all about.

Enjoy your disposable 510, I think you made a good choice to start. No sense in sinking a bunch of money into something you may not like (which I doubt will be the case :D). I've been at this for about 1-1/2 years and still get a "kick" out of it.

Enjoy your journey! Just let us know if you have any questions.

You have sure come to the right place and these folks here have got to be among the most friendly and helpful of any board I've seen, no matter the topic. I'm only about 17 days into it myself, and our fellow boardees have been endlessly patient, no matter how stupid the question, no matter how many times they've repeated the same information.

Despite what it may seem, it doesn't have to be expensive. There is some at the initial startup, but after that, unless you're in a quest for bigger and badder e-cigs, it can really level off to the $50-$100/month range, which for me is far cheaper than the 2 packs/day was costing me.

Again, welcome, and do take advantage of the collected wit and wisdom they have collected here. The veterans are more than willing to share their collective knowledge with us.

look into battery mods as well. i started out with a 510 and wish i would have gone with a mod in the first place. the initial cost of getting a mod will be quite a bit more though (and you still need to buy attys, batteries, carts and juice). just something to think about and possibly do some research on.

I have been at it for a week. Vaping at work cause I can. I have the joye ego, the batteries last me all day! I have been charging one at night and rotating the two bats I have.

Thanks all for the warm welcome and "sammin" might want to put the Riva on your short list as well, has a slightly higher MAH battery than the EGO plus I red somewhere over the weekend Riva was coming out with a even higher MAH battery. Don't consider that etched in stone because I can't remember exactly where I read it from the tons of info I've gone through but I did read it. Both are great units though. I almost clicked the buy button on both of those several times over the weened. I'm sure one of those two will probably be the way I go once the disposable is done, plus they are both compatible with 510 parts if I remember correctly.

i was killing 510 batteries after 2-3 hours so it got annoying always having to swap and recharge. going with a mod is just another option for the OP to check out. i would have saved myself a bunch of money if i just went that route to begin with. granted, a larger device like it isn't the best option for everyone or every place you go.

like i said before, it's just another option that's worth doing a bit of research on. some of my friends use e-cigs and filling their own carts or using a large device just isn't for them. they're happy with their 510s and buying pre-filled carts.

I am one week into vaporing and I decided on the Magma by Volcano. At first hit I choked, but I kept at it adjusting the pulling and realizing that it is a different pull from analogs and now this thing has really "halted" my smoking analogs, much to my amazement. So, I said all of this to say, as long as you just do it, you will be that much closer to becoming a ex-smoker and it is a great feeling, not to mention my sons are very proud of their mom for quitting too!!

Hey fellow TNer!!

Check out Puresmoker(dot)com they are located in Goodlettsville (sp?) and allow on-site pickups incase you can't wait a few days for supplies (like if you blow your last atty, etc)
They are very kind ppl with some great prices and excellent products, and they're local!
I go there about once a week to pick stuff up and haven't been disappointed even once.
PM me if you have any questions or need help!

You have done much more research then I did, I have been vaping for a month now and I started with the Magma, it worked but soon became bored with the analog look....so I now have the wetbox and the ego. I love the ego and really wish that I had purchased that first, I'm pretty sure you will see that vaping will satisfy you and you will be amazed!!
