The PassThrough with my first order (Ultimate kit) worked great for maybe two months, then died.

Replacement order, I tried the SuperGlue method. It still died promptly. Steve generously offered to replace it free on my next order.

My next order arrived a few days ago and already that new PT (the new model with the squiggly cord) is dying. I have to keep turning and twisting it to find the "sweet spot" where it works and produces vapor. Otherwise, it too is effectively dying in less than a week.

I know this isn't V4L's fault. And don't get me wrong: I LOVE V4L. Nor am I rough on PTs at all. Maybe it's just bad luck. But CONSISTENT "bad luck" with PTs suggests a manufacturing problem. I've had two die within days, and one within HOURS, after receiving them.

At $18 a pop, I'm reluctant to keep trying, even with free replacements.

My manual rechargeables work fine. I've yet to have one die.

Am I the only one with this PT issue? Something I should do differently?

Thanks.

Not much I can really offer...but yeah, I don't blame you for wondering WTF.

I'm still on my OG passthru, oddly enough.

If they die within hours/days, thats something that needs to be addressed for sure. In regards to the guarantee, never worry about that. You paid for something to work, and you deserve it.

:)

Just as an aside, have they asked you to send them back, so they can see what the issues are?

I will be replacing mine with my next order, so you are not the only one. (Contacted Val, and all is peachy!) My issue with mine is it's sticking in the on position. The button is up and the PT is still going. I guess my problem is just the opposite as yours - mine wants to run more than it should, yours wants to run less.

I will be sending mine back so they can check it out.

I had my original PT for months before it died but my new one has issues. Unless you push the button exactly right, it doesn't work. It's great when it works, but it frequently doesn't work at all. It seems like it's a switch/connection issue and I don't have a clue how to fix it.

My first pt I got from them a manual with my uukit finally died 2 days ago it lasted 6 months, but I have gotten 2 freebie pt's the old style that didn't last 2 weeks.I have about 4 pt's now and 3 of them are the new style which I like but have 1 old style auto I got back in november that is still kicking ....,IMO the older auto pt's give the best hit.

You have to fully depress the button past the casing of the PT. The button is misaligned.

That is one issue that can arise - one that has nothing to do with the OPs symptoms.

Having to turn the cable in the housing describes a make/break failure in the tiny 24G wire that feeds the unit. Cold solder joints or too much heat when soldering are the usual culprits (assuming no abuse). That wire gauge really is a bit light, imho. Especially for the current its expected to carry.

Well, I don't know if it's you or not, but I just got my first one from V4L, manual, and it doesn't work with the AC to USB adapter I bought! Now I am really ticked off. Nothing on the site said anything about it not being used with an adapter or converter or whatever you want to call it. I keep reading about all these people using these adapters, so they can enjoy the "full 5V" vaping experience. It isn't any stronger than a regular manual batt coming out of the usb port on my computer and now I'm wondering if it's going to work in the car with THAT adapter, in the lighter.

Update: Now the new manual battery I also purchased with this order isn't working right either! It won't light up, and it's stuck in the on position. Keep hitting the button and it won't turn off.

This is an "AC/DC Adaptor", and it says: "Input:100-240VAC, Output:5VDC, 2000maH". So I'm not sure why this wouldn't work. That's the only reason I bought the passthrough, to use with a wall adaptor. Otherwise, it is useless to me and I will have to sell it at a loss. And this is the adaptor a forum member recommended getting prior to purchasing a passthrough.

Sorry to change the topic. Won't happen again.

Well, Mike Deason's suggestion sounded easy enough to try. Misaligned button. Make sure to press button past the casing.

Lo and behold -- it's worked fine with every press and puff.

Maybe I mistook having to "twist and turn" the PT for simply getting a different angle or pressure on the button.

Pressing harder, as Mike suggested, immediately worked -- and still is. The PT awaits happily in my lap for my next yearning for vaping pleasure.
