I can see how high discharge will give a more consistent vape over time. I just like the convenience of low voltage cutoff. Puff away until it quits, charge, and go again. No testing or wondering if "my batt is dropping too low"..Im sure with experience I will be able to tell when its getting low, I just dont know how many batteries Ill kill learning the process:)

I have a very good understanding of lithium batteries due to other hobbies.

One thought I had was to integrate a protection PCB from a protected battery permanently into the REO, that way I can use the high-discharge batts and still have protection convenience. Some simple soldering is all it would take.

Im kicking myself for buying the Pila IBC charger, because I already own a CC/CV lithium charger for my RC stuff. Its capable of charging up to 6 cells at a time. All I would need is a 4-6cell AA battery holder, modified with an IBC for each cell, again all I would've needed was a balancing harness and a soldering iron! (I thought of this AFTER I realized 14500 was AA size)

Ya...I use the ICs by AW because they have the pcb. It's a personal preference for me. They cost a little more than the xxxxfire batteries, but the AWs easily out perform the xxxxfires any day....hands down.

There is a guy who's made the Two Cents- I saw a video on it- it slides between the battery and the spring and adds protection- a more expensive unit actually has an alarm... Oh, btw, it's not 2cents...just what it's called, I believe.

Just watched the video on it. While its a good idea, it only protects against shorts. The PCB will actually cut power to your device completely once the low voltage threshold is reached (usuallty 2.5v or so). That is why I would like to find a permanent way to incorporate one into my Mini, (that I dont have yet..). This way Ill still be able to use the red high drain batts w/o having to check voltage with a DMM.

Just did some searching for 3.7v protection PCBs and I found some that should fit inside a Mini..

EDIT: Or Ill just get some AW ICs and call it a day!

I think the 2 cent thing might be good once it gets out of testing. But from the looks of my use, I won't buy it. I understand you concern tho Mike.

Yeah, I just cant wrap my head around using no sort of automatic low voltage protection device. In my previous hobby, we have 11.1v 6000mah lithium-polymer batteries that weigh half a pound which can turn into flame throwers or hand grenades in seconds!

The spring that collapses if there's a major short, and AW batteries and checking attys for resistance before putting them on your Reo- I think you're pretty safe here w/ the REO. I had a spring collapse on my Grand from a bad atty that shorted the mod- even melted the button, and a few others have too...but I don't hear about it happening at all on a mini and no one in the history of the REO has had any kind of explosion or otherwise fire or dangerous event from using a REO, despite some pretty dumb and counter-instructional usage.

If you're afraid of messing things up, keep a spare spring handy...Rob has these- they are easy to replace.

The Mini should be here tomorrow, but I wont be here to sign for it, this means Ill have to go wait at the PO for over an hour in line to get it :(

I only have a few juices to try in it at first. Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured (PG), Cappuccino (PG), and Domestic (VG). So far with my Volt, I LOVE all 3 of these JC juices. Ive been alternating between them.

Does anyone here like JC Juice? I dont read much about them here...(ECF in general, not just Reo)

I tried them when I first started vaping....almost 2 years ago now. I thought they had an "undertaste" that I just hated. I tried almost all of them....got samplers...and I just didn't like any of them. But at the time there were some people on here (ECF) that just swore by them. To me (just my personal opinion) the best thing about JC are the glass bottles their juices come in. I saved all the bottles.
