What I don't understand about the "wrap your own coils, you'll get better results" and "drill out the airhole, you'll get better results" kind of things is, if it actually works better, why wouldn't Kanger (or Joyetech or some other vape company) simply learn that "Hey, a bigger airhole is better, wrapping the coils this way is better" and make the better item?
Most of the time, my kanger PT2 coils are just fine. Every once in a while, I get a couple of bad ones, but that's not the norm.
I don't mind spending $2 a coil once or twice a week. I have never been great about close up detail work, and now I'm old enough that my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Trying to make a coil, with all the wires the same width apart, wrapped tightly (but not too tightly) around a wick, well, that doesn't sound like fun to me. It sounds like a very aggravating way of wasting a ton of time, probably getting worse results than the stuff I can just go buy.
If someone who knows how to do it can make it that much better, why wouldn't the companies that make this kind of thing for a living just do it?
It sounds, to me, like some people just like to tinker with it. For some people, spending several hours a week trying to make a coil come out right may be fun.
When I was smoking, I didn't feel the need to roll my own. It would have saved me money, but I liked plain, already made, cigarettes. The people who I knew that did roll their own did it to save money, didn't mind having to mess with it all the time, and their cigs looked like they were falling apart.
Maybe one of you should start a side business. I can buy from you instead of Kanger, you rebuild the coils. Anyone?
