Just picked up an arbiter2 RTA... I'm afraid maybe it's not quite for me though.

At first I was really shying away from rebuildables, but the guy at the shop showed me how easy it really is, and much cheaper than the coils I had to buy. My first impression was I noticed a more pronounced flavor, with less sweetness. This It seems to burn juice a lot faster. I have a tendency to chain vape, and this gives me much more nicotine faster, but primarily I like a slower burn, and more for flavor. after hitting it a bunch of times, the juice consumption seems way too much for my liking and I got sort of a burnt taste when I tried to put a higher wattage in an attempt to ramp up flavor. The cost in the long run, way cheaper than buying coil packs, is why I bought it. But I'm kinda sad, it's lacking the flavor and sweetness of my mesh coils. I was gonna buy a crown 5, but then the RTA seemed like a better option. The coil cost is much cheaper for sure, but I'm not too happy with it.... I felt a little awkward telling the guy at the shop, as he's the one who went through the trouble to show me how to install the coil and everything, cause he uses one. I'm now wondering if I should have just got the crown 5 and paid more for coils.... Idk. I don't like spending a lot of money, especially if I end up not really liking something. It's not the shops fault, they're one of the best ones I've been to. He even gave me some freebies, which was awesome. I would appreciate some input from other RTA users as far as your experience with builds. Thank you in advance.

Do you mean like the cotton type and coil gauge?
Yeah... the works... I have an Arbiter 2 running dual fused claptons (Ni80 36/26x2), 3mm ID, 5 wrap that measures about 0.15 Ohms. I wick this with Japanese organic cotton. I run at 70 - 72 watts.

Single coil, framed staple ni80 2-28/6-.3/38 5 wrap with cotton bacon. The back of the coils say .11ohm but in my mod it's .21ohms.

What build did he show you?

Don't give up until try out a few different builds; before you give up on any build play around with coil height and airflow settings. Can take take a few tries before you find the right wire and build. On the other hand you might find you just prefer a dedicated single coil rta with less af and mesh build deck. It is a journey but once it clicks oh my.

Can I put a mesh coil in an arbiter2 or do I have to get a whole new tank? I dunno. I might just save my money up again and get a tank with pre made coils... I'm feeling some buyer's remorse. Im totally lost when it comes to this stuff. I think I'll still keep it in rotation maybe... Its a good pallette cleanser if anything. But I don't like how much juice it's burning, it felt like too much nicotine even at 3mg.

Likely what's written on the coils' box is for duals (the resistance is halved). The Arbiter 2 is a dual coil tank... try it as a dual coil before giving up.

As Shawn pointed out the rta would be better with a dual build. There are a few rtas that do provide a multi use deck or come with a couple different decks. Personally I would play around with dual builds on the rta I already have before buying another product. Building is easy; the tweaking is tedious but the rewards once it clicks are well worth the effort. Drop in coils are pricey, wire/wick are cheap and customizable.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you don't like consuming a lot of juice, then a dual coil setup and vaping at 75W isn't what you're looking for. You can't have high watts, dual coil and expect low consumption. Not gonna happen.

That doesn't mean you made a completely bad purchase. Perhaps you can use the Arbiter once in a while just for something to do but it's obvious it should not be your regular tank.

Alright. I have no idea what I was thinking. I had another RTA that's older I got discount. I should have tried that before getting this one. For some reason I thought maybe a newer RTA would be a comparable alternative to the drop in coils. Now I see the difference.

I think the vape shop guy suggested more exotic coils but they should suggest something more chilled for now but anyway.
Try a beefy single 4mm inner diameter coil.
It may not be ideal for dual coil atomizers to go for single in my opinion but maybe u are more into mesh coils and a single coil in the middle gonna be cooled by the airflows all around and be a cooler and less wattage demanding vape that is more similar to the a mesh u seem to prefer.
It will also consume little less juice.
If u didnt mind thr juice consumption i would say to continue play along with different coils on double setups because rebuildables take a little time to find your sweet spot.

Or a dual single (non-exotic) coils setup. Something line 24 guage Ni80 3mm ID 6 wrap... that'll come out to around 0.22 ohms, and can run between 50 and 80 watts pretty comfortably (start low and work your way up). If you make them spaced coils, you'll not burn your wick as quickly when chain vaping. Running dual round-wire builds will reduce juice consumption when compared to running dual exotics.

Yay thank you. I'll try this out. I actually think the coil building is pretty cool, it's just im super freaking spoiled by these mesh drop ins. I had an old vape I said didn't taste like anything, my dad hit it and said it tasted like candy. I think my taste buds are just... Bad.

Here is the Zen of using a Rebuildable.

"If you Don't Like the way Your Rebuildable is working, Change the the Build that you put into it."

I have mostly found that if an RTA say's it can run either a Single or a Dual Coil, that it will run Best using a Dual Coil. So for that RTA, I would run it in Dual Coil Mode to figure it out.

Running Simple Single Wire Builds tends to use less e-Liquid. The Coils are also Easy to Make and tend to be Easier to Mount. So I would try making some 3mm Diameter Coils using 26ga 316 Stainless Steel Wire.

Try making a Pair of Coils with 8 Wraps. And with 7. And with 6. And even a Pair with 5 Wraps each. Then see which type you like the Best. I'm sure you can get that Arbiter to work better for you. Just will take a little Experimentation.

And the Nice thing is a Small Spool of 26ga 316 SS Wire doesn't cost all that much. About what 1 or 2 Packs of Smokes did.

Also now that I got all the goodies, I'm gonna go home and mess with that wake RTA I got for 5$. I'm not expecting a whole lot, I just wanna fiddle with it.

It always does help to watch a U Tube review or two if you're using a new tank. Just type in the RTA+Review and you will have some handy viewing:)
Here's the Wake Googled, Vaping With Vic is a very good reviewer! wake rta build - Google Search

I have to agree to being spoiled by mesh drop in coils. I've been running a couple fireluke 2's for several years now. Try using plain round wire coils instead of the fancy exotic coils first of all. In my rebuilds, I like to use 22ga kanthal 7 wraps on 2.5mm. In a dual setup, I get a resistance of about .20 to .22ohms which I hit with 55 to 60 watts. Learning to use an RTA takes a bit of experimentation to find out what works best for you. So don't give up on it.

I suppose in that in th grand scheme of things, buying things really supports the vape industry, and they probably need it most right now.

I wanna try giving the wake RTA a shot. I'm gonna try to build it later after I get home from work. I have these smaller coils, they're called "super tiger coils" lol since the wake RTA is a dual setup cause the airflow position, I wanna see if maybe it'll use less juice... Should I used a different coil type though? My dad had some, there's like some squiggly looking ones, some straight ones, dual Clapton or something. I'm wondering though, I have a nickel allergy, when I was messing with it last night I accidentally had a dry hit and my nose was stuffed up all night. Was it the cotton maybe or the nickel wire?
