The title of this thread is incorrect, I actually received it about an hour ago.

I bought a starter kit, passthrough, LR atomizer, and 3x 10ml sample pack. The kit came with a bonus 10ml on NicFitnation, and I had already purchased 30ml RY4 from Vapables.com. I got Applewood, Peachwood, Cherrywood and RY in 18mg and Royal Reserve tobacco in 24mg.

I'm not sold on these e-cigs yet - I understand there's a break in period. My biggest gripe is the 'throat hit' is more of a burn that leaves my throat feeling dry and chaffed. I tried Applewood and was getting the hang of the flavour and then I changed atomizers and tried the drip tip w/ Peachwood, it smelled and tasted burnt and then a hit tasted exactly like burnt marshmallows which wouldn't be such a bad flavour were it meant to be that way - did I kill an atty?

After filling a cartridge with each flavour, I've decided my RY4 is terrible - I must've got a bad batch b/c all it is is throat hit with no flavour. I washed out the burnt atty in cold water and I think it's the one I'm using now for RR tobacco, again, little flavour but gives me the throat hit and I don't hear any gurgles or griping from the eGo this time, so I think it's broken in. Gonna try this atty on a new battery with apple while I charge these batteries and go get Chinese.

Hoping you can give some tips - I have read and watched many videos on typical tips already, but don't be afraid to reiterate the advice of many as I may have passed it up as "that's not happening to me."

That harshness is probably due to the primer fluid. It can take an hour to half a day to break in an atty. If you didn't blow out the primer fluid good it'll take a long time. It also takes some time to get used to vapor as opposed to smoke. They feel close to the same once you get into it though. And keep in mind there's a learning curve to vaping. Smoking you just light it and hit it. Vaping takes some fiddling to get consistency. I think it took me about 2 weeks to really get the hang of it and recognize what I was doing right, and wrong. Just give it a chance and you'll get it eventually. Don't worry about smoking a few analogs if you have to. Just persevere and it'll come together.

If you feel the throat hit is too harsh you might try switching to a liquid that is VG based or a blend of VG and PG. VG is a smoother vape with less throat hit but a lot more vapor. It also doesn't carry the flavor as well. Hence the reason many vendors blend VG and PG. Trying to get the best of both worlds.

technically LR atomizers can ruin your eGo batteries if you're not careful. The eGo wasn't designed for LR. But that shouldn't effect your flavor or hit. Just pointing that out.

Like ckent said, it take a little time to get used to vaping and you're probably still burning off the primer fluid from the atty.

It could be the primer fluid as cskent stated, but I'll also recommend to drink lots of water. A lot of the time when I get new non-mentholated flavors, they'll give me a very warm TH which can feel like it's drying out my esophagus and I sometimes cough. So, to remedy that, I drink a lot of water to stay hydrated.

On top of that, you mentioned you have an LR atty, which does heat up a lot faster and also produce a warmer vapor, that may be causing the harsher TH too. Personally, hitting off of an LR and a standard atty are a little different. The draw tends to be a little bit harder and faster with the LR, as opposed to hitting a standard which you can have a slower, longer draw. Again, that's just my personal opinion.

Just keep practicing, so to speak, and you'll get the hang of it. It'll just click one of these days.
