This meant as purely historical.

Now I don't know if it's a widely known fact, but I feel its such interesting topic to note the first major group of people that were so against tobacco to begin with...

Anti-tobacco movement in Nazi Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nazi anti-tobacco campaign included banning smoking in trams, buses and city trains,[6] promoting health education,[12]limiting cigarette rations in the Wehrmacht, organizing medical lectures for soldiers, and raising the tobacco tax.[6] The National Socialists also imposed restrictions on tobacco advertising and smoking in public spaces, and regulated restaurants and coffeehouses.[6] The anti-tobacco movement did not have much effect in the early years of the Nazi regimeand tobacco use increased between 1933 and 1939,[13] but smoking by military personnel declined from 1939 to 1945.[14]Even by the end of the 20th century, the anti-smoking movement in postwar Germany had not attained the influence of the Nazi anti-smoking campaign.[13]

Alcohol prohibition was so successful that some bright minds want to do it all over again with tobacco.
Yes, they are very bright minds, and well-paid too.

Once they succeed in demonizing all nicotine usage other than FDA-approved and prescribed...
Then Big Pharma will roll out all their nicotine-based drugs they have been working on.

I believe the plan is to have only BT ecigs approved. And taxed as tobacco so the bounty is shared with BG like before.

This will get the price up so BP can charge what they want for healthy prescription nicotine without the competition from in the wild e-cigarettes. At that point the desk murders will be happy.

More than 15 states (in the US) banned the sale of cigarettes even before the US entered WWI against Germany.

Many alcohol prohibitionists were also tobacco prohibitionists (several decades before the cigarette was even invented).

Those religious fundamentalists didn't oppose tobacco due to health risks (which are very low for cigar and smokeless tobacco, which accounted for most tobacco consumption prior to the 20th century), but rather because tobacco (like alcohol) was considered evil.

And a lot of 'em haven't died off yet. I just went all "evil" on some hag after church last Sunday who scorned my evil azz for vaping in the car. Oh my. May the good Lord forgive my colorful rebuttal that day on hallowed ground.

See you in hell folks!
