Just saying hello

Hello,

By way of medical reasons my wife has been analog free for over 6 months.
She used the medication route first then into over the counter inhalers.

I am going to fallow her path and get off the "smoke" as well. I don't want to smoke around her #1 and I also want my lungs back after decades of not remembering were I left them.

The prescription medication and inhalers do not agree with me.
I tried a couple disposable no-nic e-cigs recently and decided that I could actually quit that way after some test runs. But with nic included to start I think as they just don't quite fill the void ... and how ever long it takes.
( have tried the patch, gum and cold turkey over the years ... I'm a tough one to break )

My better half also has an interest in this as she doesn't like the social stigma she gets with the pharmacy inhalers and isn't quite ready to give up the hand to mouth ritual.
I don't personally think they work all that great anyhow.

That's my short intro ... and a hello !!!!
This site has been a great read and kick start.

I'll have many questions as I am still shopping for our first real purchase online and in Canada preferably. I'm also looking to do this ASAP before I fall back into the ashtray.
I seem to have found some pitfalls with this via location as fare as goods.

Thanks to all,
SVGA1

Welcome SVGA1. looking at personal vaporizers (PVs) as we like to call them can be a little like looking at cars. There are so many models to choose from. May I suggest telling us a little about yourself and what your smoking habits are so we can try to help? Also, you may have better luck here in the Canadian Forums as far as canadian suppliers. I'm sure you will get help quickly. Canada Forum

Good luck......kick ....!!!!!

Welcome to ECF SVGA1. Happy to have you aboard! :D

As Charlz said, we need just a little bit of info before we start making suggestions. What's the brand you smoke and how many per day? Do you care what your PV looks like? Do you have to have one that looks like a cigarette, or are you comfortable with something that looks like this....

That isn't as big as it looks. It's about the size of a large Sharpie marker.

Also, we call cigarettes "stinkies" or "analogs," as in not digital/electronic. :)

Again, welcome. You have come to the right place to ask questions, and whatever your specific needs are, we will help you find a suitable device for both you and your wife. As there are so many options available, it can be quite overwhelming for people who are new to this, but it all starts to fall into place rather quickly, so have no fear!

Thank you kmk

Thanks you also Charlz ...
Can't post there untill I've doneso many posts here.
The rules make sense so I'm good with it.

About myself.... I work in renovations and maintenance currently so during the day I take " breaks" ....a habbit of it's own when associated with getting the fix.
At night I am the cook at home .. old school with a beer or a wine while doing so and there is another trigger for the fix.
After dinner I do paper work or research and that's realy when my habbit calls me while sitting still.
I do not however have a ciggarette untill around 10:30 in the morning even after being up for hours having coffee and working a bit etc... odd eh ?
Took me a while to break this one.
Need to cough out and spit out yesterday first basicaly .... wich is what happens.

Association breaking is a funny animal.

I've over the last six months gotten myself down to 2/3 a pack a day on medium light cigs ( tar 8-28 mg / Nic 2.3mg per unit )
Peter Jackson "Smooth Flavor" ( Canadian )

Origenaly from the US I was smoking a pack a day of Camel lights some years ago
And had been doing that for over two decades
With some Full strength Camels and some Malb Reds also.

TotalTiffy .. Outstanding, I will look into the suggestions thank you

spaceballsrules:
My wife would prefer something close to an analog look per her work environment. She used to be a pack plus per day smoker on Peter Jackson Blue.
Her co-workers and some clients give her a bad time over the over the counter inhaler... say it looks like a tampon in mouth

Myself... I don't want my replacement to look like a cig ... it's not a cig, in my mind ... it's the replacement ... an evolution to the solution.
My way of breaking the mindset ... and in my world I could give a rats ... what anyone thinks ... it's my day.
What is that in the image posted ?
I was trying to find an ego-w ..that looks close but without the "window"

Wow, is all I can say in within an hour of my first post.
Thank you all !!

I took a look around the canvapes site. I would reccommend the $29 Kr808d-1 kit or the $39 Ego/Riva kit. The kr808 model is slimmer and something the wifey might like due to it's similarity to a cigarette. For the best results, I'd go for the Riva kit. It's long lasting and you won't run out of battery life while out and about. It's important to be able to use it when you want to keep you from reaching for those ciggys. Maybe you can get one of each so you and the missus each have a complete kit and you can decide which ones you each prefer.

The batteries describe themselves in terms of mah. each 100mah will approximate about 1 hour of use just to give you an idea.

You will need some juice as well. get a few different kinds to sample. Telling you exactly what juice to buy is kind of like telling you what color you would like best or how you should season your meal, tonight. It's too subjective. I wish you luck.....

For your wife, I suggest this kit - 510 Starter Kit Automatic Battery 280mAh

For you, sir, an evolution to the solution, talkin bout talkin' bout a REVOLUTION! - Boge Revolution V2.1 1400mAh Bottom Feeder

Grab some extra cartos here Boge Low Resistance Cartomizer 5 Pack and here Boge Cartomizer 5 Pack SR and figure out which you prefer.

Both of the devices I linked to for both you and your wife have 510 threading, so you can share the cartomizers easily.

I have no idea about ejuice laws and regulations in Canada, so I can't help you there.

I LOVE your attitude! :D

evosil98 - Thank you

Charlz - Your 100mah per hour thinking is the best rule of thumb thing I have seen so far, this helps ALOT ... and I'll take it as a rule of thumb rather than chiseled in stone so no blame as I know it may vary by parts and purchase.
The Riva with a pen style cap if I can find it/one would be perfect I think. .... or something like this. This is why I was looking around for an Ego-W ... still learning.... I know I will know more once I have something in my hand.
I've shown the 808 to the missus and she is thinking she wants something we can share parts on for economy ( quick girl that one )

spaceballsrules - I had thought about the evolution but during work I need something that will fit in my daily carry kit I think and not have odd bits that stick out and get broken ( Think - Leatherman multitool and a belt sheath with extra stuff in it type of thing .... goes to work... goes out to dinner .....doesn't really need to fit in the same pouch as those, but that's the mindset in general)
I've been interested in the offerings with a pen cap type cover also and maybe cones as with my work I'm in a lot of dust and bumps and would also like to be able to clip it or put it in a void spot in my belt kit or shirt pocket etc..... or something... I'll have to figure it out once I've made the purchase.... but something that might work that way.
As we know it ... I don't realy care if it looks like a cig.

Many thanks and regards to all,
RMF

( had handle/nickname changed....P.S. )
