Hey all!

Well... I don't know what happened but something hit me one day and I decided I was going to start using a PV instead of smoking regular cigarettes. I don't know anyone personally that does, I just decided to start looking at them. I think I saw them a couple of years back but it seemed like the technology/saftey was there. Now it's pretty well standardized and solid.

So, I picked up a quick $20 NJOY Express pack at a 7-11 just to see if it vaping met my needs. I went through my two carto's and when I ran out, I felt lost. So I picked up a 5 pack of cartos at highway robbery price of $22.

Since I've started my research on this I've narrowed my first PV down to either a Janty JETS kit or a Volcano Inferno Tank kit. My question to you guys is which one would you recommend? I want to hit the nail on the head as close as I can seeing as how they're $80 a pop for kits. I know this may not be my last but I'd like my first to be as perfect as it can be for a while.

They seem to both get so many good reviews that it's hard for me to make up my mind. The one thing I do know is that Volcano seems to have WAY better flavors and e-liquid line up. So the question I have that follows that thought is, if I do go with an eGo... can I use the Volcano e-liquids w/ it? I've heard/read parts of warranties that say they're voided or that the product won't perform as well if you use someone else's juice.

Thanks to all in advance!!
Louis

Congrats on making the switch! Good for you. A Tornado is a 'FatBatt'. They're all pretty much the same and should serve you well. Ego, Kgo, Riva and you'll have a good PV. Kgo has a bit more power and longer lasting battery. Suggest you buy equipment from equipment sellers and juice from jucie suppliers.

KickBassVapor
BackWoodsBrew
AVEjuice

Taste is subjective so I'm sharing the top-selling suppliers. Get the smallest bottles you can. These suppliers are sought after. If you don't like the juice, you can trade or sell in the classified section. Good luck!

I would recommend the ego mega dual coil carto kit.

I just started 6 weeks ago and bought an ego tank system. Found them to be high maintenance with cleaning and leaking issues.
Switched to the EMDCC , which fits my original batteries, and found heaven. Super vapor, good throat hit, holds three time the liquid, etc. etc.

Wow! Thanks for the fast replies and warm welcomes!

So I checked the Forum Suppliers like suggested.. thanks for the tip!! I did find 'em for less than $80!! Awesome!! So... I think I'm pretty well settled on a black eGo then. I love the look and the reviews always seem to say great things.

Another questions dealing with eGos.... Do I do the tank or carto? I'm leaning towards tanks for easy refilling and large capacity. But I hear that carto's vape better and that tanks leak. Not sure here...

Also, I've read that Janty created the original eGo and there's some kind of proprietary voodoo going on in them. So is there a difference between the Joye eGo and Janty eGo? I forgot... I gotta go look at the kGo.

Roblectric... where did you find the EMDCC kit?

I haven't used the tank systems before, so I'm no authority, but from what I hear they're high maintenance. People who use them either don't mind the maintenance and LOVE them, or they move on to something else.

If you're to buy an eGo, I'd recommend liberty-flights.com

The customer service there is amazing, and the prices are perfect.

Good luck with your journey.

EDIT: If you do use LF, be sure to click the 20% banner at the top before placing your order!

For what it's worth, I am a happy Ego-T (tank) owner and have never experienced a leak. That is with several different attys of type A and B as well as standard and low resistance. My only issue is not having fingernails, so I have to bite the cap off the tank to refill which leads to small amounts of juice in the mouth. I've been using it for 3 weeks, so maybe leaks will start later, but I'm pretty happy with it. I definitely recommend the LR attys though.... much more flavor and vapor.

Thanks for the tip myxomatosis! 20% off an eGo kit sounds like a good deal with their prices!!

jmlott, thanks for the feed back on the eGo-T!

I'm so at a loss with whether to go tank or not.... If I go with a tank system, I'm not stuck with it right? I could just switch to a carto right?

I did find the eGo dual coil at MadVapes (link). They're like $2.50 a piece. So if I hated the tanks or something I could just get these and be set right?

Welcome and congrats! You've made a great decision and I think you're going to love vaping on a real device.

I've never been a tank fan. I tried them and really, really tried to like them. 7 A-type tank atomizers and 4 B-type atomizers later and I gave up on them. They just weren't for me. (I never tried the low resistance tank attys though, they'd probably work better.) I do, however, totally love the EMDCC. Huge capacity, loads of vapor, great flavour, and cheap, too.

However, if you do choose the tank, you can always buy the EMDCCs later; they will fit the same battery, so you don't have to change anything. Heck, buy the tank kit and include a couple of EMDCCs in your order, too -- try both, see which one you like better.

I have the mega dual coil carto kit from Mad Vapes. It comes with 4 dual coil cartos and 2 900 mah batteries and USB charger and case. I think it's around $45.00 You'll need to purchase a wall charger because it doesn't come with it.

I like the 900 mah batteries and the dual coil carts hold a lot. If you're new to vaping, you may want to get an atomizer to test out juices. Once you committ yourself to the juice, you're sorta stuck with it. My batteries sometimes need to be adjusted to make contact with the cartomizer.

I also have the Joye Ego I got from LF- still using it. I only use cartomziers and I'm happy with the kit.

I purchased tank attys and tanks when they came out to try them. I did like them. It's a more muted vape than a carto and cooler, but I actually liked that. My first atomizer lasted 2 weeks and died. The second one never work and I tried everything from cleaning the atomizer to adjusting the microscopic wick. It just annoyed me and I went back to cartomziers because I'm happy with them.

The great thing about the ego is they are so versatile. You can pick up tanks to try or try the dual coil cartomizers, or try dripping, or try the echo-e cartomizers.

You really can't go wrong with the basic Riva from Liberty Flights. Pick up a box of boge 2.0 cartomizers and find a great juice. You can always try tanks or other cartomizers if you want to. New stuff comes out practically weekly.

Or, get the ego-t and give it a try. I'd buy some cartomizers too just in case you have issues with the tank. You may not. It seems to be hit or miss.

Mindfield,

Thanks for the reply and the welcome! I think that's exactly what I'm going to do! I never knew about EMDCC's until I came here so I thank you all guys!!

So, what should I do about the difference between Joye and Janty eGo's. The boxes look identical! I hear that Janty's now have a shutoff switch on them... is that the same as the Joye 5 button push shut off? Are they identical? Is there really some voodoo in the Janty's that others don't have?

Janty products are just re-branded Joye, so they are identical, including the 5-click protection, so no worries there. Pretty much all of the eGos are made by Joye regardless of whose logo is on it. (eGo-style kits like Riva and such are different.)

Thanks mindfield for clearing that up and swedishfish for the link.

Alrighty.... I was comparing the MadVapes 510 eGo EMDCC kit and the Joye eGo kit at AltSmoke.com. I think I'm leaning towards getting the Joye eGo Tank kit and picking up a pack of 5 EMDCC's there to mix it all up. Call me crazy but a named brand makes me feel a bit more comfortable plus it comes with the wall charger and all. Does you guys know of a better place for a branded Joye eGo-T kit or is AltSmoke.com a good place to buy from?

AltSmoke is fine, they have a decent reputation. I've dealt with MadVapes myself on several occasions and know they carry good stuff as well. (Their juices, meh ... very hit or miss, though I absolutely love their TopVapor chocolate mint.)

Quick question.... at MadVapes.com it says "Low Resistance(less than 2.0 ohms) atomizers and cartomizers should not be used with eGo batteries." and then I read elsewhere that the MadVapes EMDCC does 1.8 ohms. Kind of confused there....

They do work. SmokTech themselves (who make the cartos) confirmed it, and I'm using them right now without issue. They're hard on the battery, and they may reduce the overall lifespan of the batteries, but I've never had an issue with either the EMDCCs or the original dual coil cartos.

I understand your preference for a brand name (and the logic holds true for most things). I do want to mention my own experience with the 5-click buttons.

I bought an ego-T kit and a riva kit at the same time. From the get-go, the riva batteries provided a nicer vape (the slightly higher voltage is a noticeable difference). Cycling through all the batteries, the first ego battery died after a month (scaring me to death, because it died on the charger and got "OWWW my %($J*%# fingers!!" hot). Ordering another riva battery as a replacement, I continued the rotation. The second ego battery lasted another month and died with no drama. I don't know if I got part of a bad production run or what, but between the voltage difference, the fact that they're more expensive, and my own experience comparing them side-by-side, I'd never buy another 5-click ego battery. This was all when the ego-t first came out and my riva batteries are all still fine and seeing daily use.

Even if my experience isn't typical (in terms of battery durability), rivas have: slightly higher voltage, slightly more mAh, look virtually the same, and cost less than a standard ego battery. In your shoes, I'd get a riva kit then buy a t-atomizer and the cartomizers separately. The cost of doing it that way would be about the same as getting an ego-t kit + cartomizers, but you'll have better batteries.

As far as tank VS cartos, I don't like the tank. I didn't have leaking issues, but the muted taste, cold vapor, and the frequent cleaning to prevent it from tasting like ... were dealbreakers for me. I'd still try if I were you though, because you might be one of those people who really love it.
