Just Started Vaping

OK, so I got the cigarette look-alike from VaporSmiths after trying a disposable Blu (nasty!) to see if this would work. So far, I'm not unhappy with it, although I can see I'd like more vapor. I've ordered a Volt X2 to try that, and may go variable voltage if the Volt isn't enough. I got the larger capacity cartomizers that were in stock, the CE3, but wish the largest ones had been there. I can always order those later if I like it.

Strangely, I began at 3 PM yesterday. I went immediately from 2 1/2 packs (I know, I know) of analogs (I love that word) to 10 in the last 22 hours, mostly this morning as the vaping wasn't giving me the Happy Feeling.

I'm finding that sipping it works better for me and I'll try that tomorrow morning.

My doctor is totally on-board with this as he was my father's doctor as well. Dad had lung cancer, a bad heart, and eventually died in his late sixties.

I smoked at his funeral. How stupid was that?

Next up, dinner with Mom tonight where I see if I can subtly convert her. Chance of conversion: well, maybe fifty percent.

Keep it up!

I just started as well and I know what you mean about the first "vapor" of the day.
I had to play around a bit find just the right juice to get the me going first thing.

Good to have you on board!

Thanks! I have several liquids coming (due tomorrow), until then I'm stuck with the Minty Mint starter carts. I do like them, but suddenly find myself craving more variety. And vanilla. And grape. :)

The best quote of the last day was from the Beloved Spousal Unit. "Um, I can't smell that unless you're right next to me and when you are it smells really good, like mint tea."

"I know, I've been stealth vaping behind you for the last thirty minutes. And the flavor is better than the smell."

Thanks! Right now, I'm thrilled with the simple reduction of analog intake (four fifths drop is nothing to sneeze at).

I noticed something that I didn't really think about earlier. When I woke up, my mouth merely tasted like something got sick, not like something died in there. My sinuses weren't quite so clogged as they usually are when I awaken. My normal headache isn't quite so bad today.

I can't yet smell the smoke in my clothes, but I'm sure that'll happen. And then I'll just wash everything...

Even the first day the analogs start tasting not so good, it's strange. It's like my body's slowly finding that there's a less nasty way to get the nic hit. I've had 5 analogs so far (down from the pack or so I would have smoked), and #5 wasn't that great. I could have taken it or left it. I shoulda left it.

Thanks everybody!

That's a HUGE step forward and you should pat yourself on the back.

I still have a full pack sitting here on my desk and my wife keeps asking if I'm going to throw it out. I probably will eventually, but for now it's sort of my inspiration reminding me that I'm stronger than it is.

To be honest, I am amazed at how easy it was for me to give them up considering all the other methods I've used to try and quit. I realize I'm still addicted to the nicotine, but my plan is to eventually, slowly, wean myself off that.

Welcome to ECF and congrats !! And it just keeps on getting better ;)

I had nasty sinus messes all my smoking life and now they are blessedly clear, not to mention all the other changes like not stinking, no holes in clothing, no worries about falling asleep with a lit one etc.

You have a great start, hope your mom can be persuaded. My mom died of emphysema from smoking all her adult life. I tried to quit then and failed. That was 1989. I didn't even try again until last year and only because I got mad about cig taxes. Never ever will I go back.

I have my old full pack and a half pack and my lighter sitting on my microwave in the kitchen, just to remind myself how dumb I was to burn up all that money and crap up my lungs. I seldom pass a day without looking at them and saying something nasty to them :D

While I'd like to eventually quit every nic source (I have no doubt this is orders of magnitude better than smoking, but I'd still rather not do it forever), this will take a while. And I'll be carrying 0 mg liquid with me quite often, I'm sure, to counter the sheer physical habit for a while. Perhaps a long while.
