"Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel

Why do I have such mixed emotions about the song "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel?

I've been hearing this song a lot recently on the radio, on friends playlists, at supermarkets and Walgreens. Now I can't shake the song and it haunts me.

Drinking coffee in the morning? No clever conversation here, just me and Billy Joel.

Looking for my keys? Look - it's Billy Joel! He'll never leave me in times of trouble.

Getting back from the gym. Hey - Billy Joel likes me just the way I am!!



The lyrics are so simple but right on target. This is what spooks me. I could never imagine myself saying these things to anyone which is more a sign of possible immaturity on my part than lack of words. Or perhaps I've never been "in love" enough to utter these words:

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

When I was little I ran around singing "uptown girl" from ages 2-5.. LOL. mOM said it was my favorite song hands down. I also wore hot pink Star shaped shades and was going to grow up and be cher.

OH THE 80'S. I don't remember him as they ended when I was 4, but apparently I ROCKED THEM! LMAO
