I walked into the gas station for the first time in awhile, I usually pay at the pump. Well I decided to walk in and get something to drink. I asked the cashier if she could put 40 on pump 5....and wait for it I didn't pay 7.00 dollars for a pack of ciggs. It was a great feeling! Until I realized I paid 4.30 a gallon.. Glad i'm vaping i'll tell yah that much.

Wow! I went to school in Lansing so I forgot about those Midwest gas prices! Whew!!! I know the feeling though! My smokehouse also has a gas station. They're close to my house so I still go for gas. The first couple of times I went by the people (who knew me as a regular) always grabbed my carton of Newports! Felt good to say...ugggh sorry don't need those! I remember stuffing cartons in my luggage on my way back to Lansing because of the prices!!

Wow - $2 for cigarettes? And just a while earlier, I was watching a video (linked from another thread) that showed shops in Manhattan selling 'em for over $12. For some dried plant and paper. It's nuts.

I think I'd been paying about $4 after switching to a cheap brand.
Easy for me to justify buying vape gear "to see if I like it" .

You forget that your not just buying dried plant and paper. Your also getting more government than a sensible man can tolerate.

Was noticing that the upper midwest is over $4/ga for gasoline, but everywhere else is about $1 a gallon cheaper
(I'm not counting California, Hawaii, Alaska). Don't know what the latest excuse is for that.

If you look at regional gas prices, the midwest is actually on the cheap side... you're just surrounded by slightly cheaper regions. Check out New England.

Missouri mandates a particular blend of gas. Many states do this (ever heard of 'summer blend' gas?). Your gas is expensive because Missouri can't just haul in any old gas it wants to use. It's possible for Missouri (or other states) to be short on gas even though there's plenty of gas in the country. That's why it's more expensive. It's a small market.

California is the same way. They require their own blend, and there's a huge demand for gas here, so if even a couple refineries go down, the state's supply is choked, even when Oregon, NV, and AZ have plenty.

Reading some of these responses in terms of gas prices and I'm like holy sh-- lol. I thought I had it rough my gosh. Ill tell ya one thing though we may be helpless in terms of the gas but at least we're stickin it to the tobacco companies. Legalized homicide is exactly what those companies work and strive for. They make me sick.

I paid $10 and some change for smokes the 3 years I lived downtown Chicago. That would buy me 2 martini's at Pizano's on Thursday's! Couldn't have a gun in my house either. Stupid laws for such an awesome city.
