I'm new to the whole removable batteries, but sense that this is really the way to go in the future. I probably will get a couple box mods within the year. My first one I ordered is the istick 60wTC (isticks have worked well for me), and will be using LG HG2 18650 3000mAh batteries for it. Is this an ok match? I MTL and lowest I probably will vape is 1.0 ohm, maybe try .5 but I probably won't like the heat of that one.

Thanks for putting up with my questions.

You should be fine with that set-up.
You do have a TC mod there Bonnie C.
if you use ni or ti coils the temp can be set
to an acceptable level. One can get a cool vape using very low resistance coils.
Most ni/ti coils are around 0.1-0.2 ohm.
Be sure to read mooch's blog if you haven't already. Excess battery heat while charging or during use is an early warning sign that must be heeded.

I won't be using the TC mode at the moment, but perhaps in the future. All the safety precautions (which are good) is what kept me away from using removable batteries in the first place. Need to get over my fear of them and have done plenty of reading up on the safety end.

In my opinion, removable batteries are safer than non-removable batteries. For one thing, removable batteries are safer chemistry (IMR and INR), while non-removable batteries (Li-Po) are not. An IMR or INR battery will likely only vent gas should it go into thermal runaway, while a Li-Po battery will likely vent flames or actually explode.

Also, with removable batteries you actually get to choose which battery to use in your mod (do your research first). With non-removable batteries you have to depend upon the manufacturer to choose which battery is best (and IMHO many do not).

It will work together Luke peanut butter and jelly.

I usually use LG HG2 batteries with the istick60tc or eVic VTC Mini.

Great pair.

There's no reason to be "afraid" of removable lithium ion batteries. You've likely been using them for many years, (in your cellphones, laptop computers etc), without a second thought.

One crucial "detail" that the sensational stories about "exploding e-cigs!!!1!1" always "conveniently" neglect to mention is that these batteries have to be set up to fail, meaning they have to be misused, to experience catastrophic failure under load. With some decent battery education, (which you've received here), there's very little danger to using them in vaporizers.

I much prefer mods with removable li-ion batts because I know exactly what I'm powering the device with. Also, when we're talking 18650's, they often have a higher mah rating than similarly sized li-po batts, and when drained, are quickly and easily changed.

Baditude, thanks for the vid. I hadn't previously appreciated how much freaking energy is released during a li-po thermal runaway. The burn time, size, and intensity of the flames surprised me.
