Both batteries and chargers vary widely in quality. They are not created equal. It would be in your best interests to invest in quality brand-name batteries and charger. Any battery or charger has the potential to fail, but investing in the higher brand name products decreases your chances of being involved in an accident.

Statistically, most battery-related incidents occur while a battery is being charged. The chargers are supposed to have chips which will terminate the charging process once the battery receives a full charge, but electronics have been known to fail. Therefore, it is safe battery practice to not charge a battery when you will not be able to observe its progress.

Do not charge batteries and leave the house. Do not charge batteries overnight when you will not be awake to observe an accident during charging. Protection chips have been known to fail. Li-Ion batteries have been known to vent with flames and even to explode; you wouldn't want this to occur while you were not around to take appropriate action. The odds of this happening are probably small, but if it should happen to you it will be a big deal for certain.

Take a few minutes to learn about the different types of batteries available to you for your mod by reading the following blogs. The most recommended chargers are made by Pila, Extar, and Nitecore Intellicharger.

ohh thx for the links im thinking about getting the "AW" with a new charger. BTW did mech mod batteries usually die really fast and take forever to charge? or is it just the cheap/generic batteries that came with the k100?

Every charger has a certain output. For example .5 amps would be a rather low current and because of that take longer to charge then say a charger with a 1 amp output. It is important to have batteries with a higher max current than what the charger puts out. So, it can be perfectly normal depending on the size of the battery, but they shouldn't die that quickly. Im assuming they are 18650's?

AW is an excellent choice. :) Be certain that they are the red IMR batteries.

Generic batteries are very often used batteries that have been re-wrapped and sold as new, or the Quality Control rejects that the better battery manufacturers will not sell under they own brand name. AW and Panasonic are the most sold batteries in the APV and flashlight world, and are also the most counterfeited batteries in the world. Therefore, be sure that your battery vendor is an authorized dealer and selling authentic AW and Panasonic batteries.

As with batteries, you often get what you pay for if you pay more for quality. A better brand of charger will charge batteries faster and more precisely and most important, be safer.

I use AW IMRs in my K100s and K101. Since they telescope, you can use either flattop or buttontop. With a Kick, you are limited to 18490 (or 18500) and 18350. I do not trust batteries that come with those kits, so I never buy them that way. Once you have a good charger and a few batteries, you really don't need the kits anyways.

haha that answered my other question. Right after 3 hours of charging(i never let it fully charge because it takes waay too long) and vaping off the battery for like an hour or so it would die that quickly and I found it really annoying lol Do quality batteries/chargers charge as fast as a electronic mod by any chance?

A high quality charger (made by Nitecore or Xtar) will charge batteries faster than a cheapo charger often included in mod kits.
