Hey guys dont know if its a good thread for this, but my friend has a k100 and the spring in the button lost its tension, and now when you use the mod the button gets too hot to even touch.. is there anyway of fixing this? he doesnt want to buy a new mod and was hoping there is a solution. Keep in mind its not the spring right under where the battery sits its the one inside the actual button. I had the same issue with my K100 and it kind of fixed itself after being exposed to some cold (freezer) but then the pin at the top broke so i threw it away. Any suggestion on this?

So a coil spring for it? It's just a PITA to get the little metal plate that holds the button down off and on like idk if I would even be able to get it back on

Here's a video that might help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx7nVuiCGMc

I had a completely different post typed out until I watched that and saw what piece you were talking about. He calls it a "locking washer" in the video, but it's actually called a retaining ring, and it is what holds the button assembly together. Those are a pain if you haven't seen them or had to remove them before. He shows you how in the video, but you basically just find anything that will fit in the little slot in the ring, and pop it out. Don't go crazy with it, but it's highly unlikely you will do anything to hurt that ring. When you go to put it back on, just line it up in the groove of the post, and press it in (might take some force), and it should snap right back on.

He also talks about fixing his messed up spring, so hopefully that will help too.

By the way, Google and YouTube are wonderful friends to vapers ;)

Good luck

thank you for the information. I finally saw him today and he had taken it to a local shop and they were able to replace the spring, but he says that sometimes when he goes to fire it up the button will get hot but it wont fire. i recomended to him that he get some sandpaper and clean off the contact pins, i will keep updating this if it works or not.

It sounds like there's a short somewhere. If cleaning the contacts doesn't work, you guys will have to troubleshoot the short. Does he have a multimeter?

Someone else will have to assist there if you aren't able to find where the mod is shorting, as I don't have a lot of experience with shorts on the mod itself.
