K100 Mech Mod - battery spring

Man, I should stop spending money on mods! I just received my K100 empire clone from fasttech, and it's a beaut! I do have 2 questions though:

• What is the purpose of the plastic end piece, over the battery spring on this mod? Does it serve as some sort of 'hotspring' like feature?
• Furthermore, is the battery spring a hotspring, or just a regular spring?

Feedback greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, the plastic end piece used as the insulator to separate the battery button to the switch.

I am fairly certain it is a hot spring. I collapsed one when I shorted the mod. I can't speak for all of them, so YMMV.
