I should be getting a K100 in the mail sometime next week, since this is my first Mod (using a twist now) , I wonder about the safety of the batteries that comes in the kit from china, I don't think that they are protected, or are they?
Do I need to buy a kick just to feel safe using this device?
I will be using Vivi novas/startdust/CE's @1.8 ohms to start, then i will, also carto tanks/cartos are coming in the mail.
Is this thing safe for vaping out of the box?

Thanks for the feedback guys, great weekend!

A kick is a great thing to use in a mechanical like the k100. Regulated vaping with a kick is awesome. You'll get a more consistent vape and it will warn you when the battery is low. But if you're simply looking for protection, check out the 2 cent fuse from vapesafe (~$6). They even sell one now that is multi-use (~$14). I think you can trip the fuse 3 times before you have to replace the unit.

As far as the batteries that come with the kit... What you should be most concerned with is the amp rating of the batts. Do the math and make sure that with the coil you're running at you're voltage range that you aren't exceeding your amperage limit and you be fine.
Hope this is helpful.

What are the batteries in the kit?
The best batteries you can use are unprotected IMRs. This post has a list of them:

They have safer chemistry and are designed for high drain.

Its in the Vamo forum but the same applies for your mod.
If you are using a kick you should also only be using IMR batteries.
The instructions for the kick are here:
