Kanger Aerotank Mega coil question

So just so I understand for the future...the BLACK boxes are the coils with the cotton, the white boxes are the old silica wicks? I received my black boxes today from Discount Vapors, and the coils are indeed like Shawn said they would. So thanks, I appreciate the help!

I had E-Mailed Sun-Vapors to inquire about whether their coils were cotton or silica and it's been a week and they never replied back to me. I'm kinda surprised, I use to buy a lot of coils from them a few years back and customer service was always great. I guess good things don't always last...

Absolutely no concern about this type of silica (amorphous). It's perfectly safe and doesn't burn like cotton or rayon. The only controversial kind of silica fiber is crystalline silica, but this kind is not used in e-cigs. Nothing to worry about!

Since silica is fire proof, one would think silica would beat out cotton which will start to singe around 420F.

I believe that silica rope is a safer wick for those tiny old-school coils that tend to overheat even at low wattages.

Yup. Amorphous silica is as safe as cotton or rayon. Some people prefer cotton, especially in RTAs, mainly because it's much easier to work with. Silica wicks come only in rope form, AFAIK, so you can't control the size and density of your wick. But in pre-made coils, silica is actually preferable, IMO, because it doesn't burn.

Yep! And the Kanger Dual Coils in the white box are much less expensive than the VOCC-T, which is why I buy them, and so do many other people.
