I saw on YouTube that you have to use the pre-built coils that have the non-resistance leads at the end of the wire or you will burn up the little white rubber gasket. That's the only video I could find on YouTube on how to rebuild the dual coil version.

I'm having a major problem with my ejuice leaking down into the AFC and then it just gurgles and gurgles!
Anyone know how to stop this?

A few minutes ago I put in a brand new Kanger dual coil in and after about 5 vapes the juice is now in the AFC and gurgling! grrrr! I tightened the head into the AFC with pliers so it's in there tight so the juice has to be leaking through the head!

Need help badly! If someone knows of a good video that shows how to rebuild these coils and stop my ejuice from getting into the AFC it would be highly appreciated! Or if someone can tell me what to do... :-(

Too tight. It only needs to be finger snug. In fact, the whole tank only needs to be snug, not tightened too much. Disassemble the tank, clean it out, and reassemble gently. Turn your coil until snug and vape on.

Also, non-resistance wire is not needed to rebuild protank coils at all.

I rebuild my dual coil pro tank coils with a single 1.8 micro coil from 30 guage and cotton. I think they work better then the dual coils from kanger. I also rebuild my pt2 single coil heads with same build. Dual coils heads are easier to build single coils in. I haven't had any leaks either.

Kanthal you can find for 5-10 bucks on eBay from temco. Cotton from cvs and boil it. Ohm meter maybe 20 bucks or if you have a mod use that till you can't get a meter.

For those of us "mechanically" challenged, I couldn't find anything on youtube for this kind of 'rebuild'. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I have seen the kanger heads disassembled but not rebuilt until I read this thread. I didn't know it was possible.I have gotten pretty good at Kayfun / Russian rebuilds. The Kanger dual coil looks extremely tedious and difficult.Does Busardo have a video on Taste your Juice?

Not sure about Phil...but rip trippers does.

Trippers video was with one that got me started but use different methods. The coil build he uses is a little tight for the mini so I went to 30 ga and have some room in the head for adjustments and tightening up the coil.

I make coils down to .8 ohms in my mini PT's without burning the Silicone Resistance Coil Insulators. MO's Peppermint Bark and Bryce's Custard love these builds. The trick if there is one, play around and learn what works best for you. If your getting gurgling use a little more cotton but it should never be snug in your coil, dry hits, probably too much cotton. All my mini PT's go on Vision Spinners and fire down to .8 ohms. You can't chain vape .8 coils on a mini PT but they are my work tanks and flavor is what I am after.

And since I started vaping I haven't found a single piece of equipment that likes to be tightened down beyond finger tight.

As long as the cotton hasn't been treated with anything there should be no need to boil it. Also another pro would be better taste. I've read a lot on here that people who rebuild their kanger coils actually say that the cotton provides a much better flavor than with the traditional silica wick.

One thing I'm trying to understand myself... What is the difference in the gauges of kanthal wire? IE what is the difference between 26 gauge and 30 gauge? Is it just the width of the wire? Does it provide more resistance?

the difference is wire thickness, the smaller the number the larger the wire.... kinda like shotguns :)
as the wire becomes thicker the resistance goes down
just for educational usage... 3" of 30ga will have say... 3 ohms( just guessing at this) and 3" of 26ga will have 2 ohms ( still guessing)
Im being too lazy to look up the wire chart and give real numbers... :)

to be honest.... only way to stop it is to buy a HCigar 3.1 from Luxor Vapors :)

Instead of using cotton I wet a short piece of EkoWool and used a Wire Needle Threader too pull the EkoWool through the micro coil, worked like a charm! I did switch to a toothpick while I was putting the coil into the Kanger coil holder because the Weaving Needle was a tad too big to go all the way to the bottom of the slits in the Kanger head coil holder. Man this was so easy to do with the right tools... B-)

Thanks RIP for showing us how to make the micro coil.

I will post back after I try it. Oh yeah I also put a 1mm flavor wick on top of the coil before I put the chimney stem back on so that should help with the coil not touching the stem...

You know I don't understand how the AFC ring moves up and down? There are no threads that I can see so how does it not fall down and how can it stay out one certain place? Anyone taken it apart yet?

I've seen pic of ones that broke and there a couple of springs in there. Don't take it apart, it will never go back together.

Look up Rip Trippers videos in YouTube. He builds some crazy coils! And then look for the blog I have posted on the subject, a lot of info there. HTH!

I also do single coil builds in my aerotank...I began doing vertical coils in the dual coil head and basically is like a dragon coil build where the cotton is on the outside of the coil and not in the middle...The draw can be very tight depending on how much cotton you use but once you find the perfect amount it is easy to reproduce.

Hey guys, I watched this video because I want to rebuild the dual coil heads that go in the Kanger Aero Tank, Protank 3, mini PT3 and the EVOD 2...
I watched this video http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dnRPJm4gCPY

and he says too get some non resistance wire (ends that are not resistance so it won't burn the rubber grommet?) So I bought these wires from fasttech.com and I don't think I got the right one. The black part on the wire is in the middle where you would wrap it around the wick (EkoWool in my case). Can you tell me if I got the right ones and if not can you give me a link to the ones I need? It would be much appreciated. if I do have the right ones how do I go about using these? I know that the black part can't go around the wick, that doesn't make sense to me..... I have attached a pic of the wires and the packing slip info.

TIA!IMG_20140518_025850-689004395.jpgIMG_20140518_030800-1221669786.jpg

Sorry that the pics are sideways.... :-(
