I am hopefully going to make my first attempt tomorrow or the next day if the mail cooperates. I have a the kanthal and ohm meter in route to me which are the last things I need. Been dripping some with the coils that came in an rda and while I did go through the extensive cleaning process with it, I am not overly impressed with the Chinese coils that come in the rda. It is WAY stronger flavor and pretty good clouds however. In fact I had my wife try it with what we have been vaping and she said it's too strong for me! :D I am going to have to get some juice besides the one I already have that is only 12 mg, all the rest of ours is 24 mg.

I just have a single 2.1 ohm micro coil in an IGO-W but it's so satisfying. There's a shop in my town that even drilled out the air holes for me. I initially took the plunge into RDAs after my AeroTank turned out to be . I can't stand leaking, and quickly learned that I'd much rather fuss with making a coil and changing a cotton wick than getting e liquid in my mouth or pocket. I've only been at it a week or so but I love it. Micro coils are so easy to make, easier than a standard wrap in my opinion.

We have been using the carto tanks (sorry, can't remember the brand) that have the locking screw on bottom so they can't accidentally pull apart and they NEVER leak! If you want something that is decent, cheap and has a tank you can try one of those.

I've rebuilt my Kanger T3S successfully and purchased a patriot clone yesterday. I've built two coils for the clone and both were about .9 ohms. I'm trying to double that but only have 30 gauge kanthal wire. Any ideas? I'm using the MVP 2 on the rebuilds. I'm just fearful of the battery exploding. Any tips? Lowest and highest ohms recommended for the MVP2?

I think 1.5ohm is the lowest. not sure anout the highest.

I am starting to build coils in my IGO w3 with not much success. I'm trying to build a dual coil and when I put the leads into the pos/neg posts when tighting the coil it ruins the coils tightness. is there an easier RDA? I have a MVP2 and K100.

Hey I just got my MVP2 and IGO-W yesterday. I figured out that keeping the screwdriver inside the coil while tightening the posts keeps it from getting out of shape. Then I use the screwdriver or tweezers to position the coil how I want it.

I am running a 1.1 ohm microcoil on my MVP2 right now. Set the wattage at a low 7.5W and the vapor is slightly warm, dense, and so tasty. Far better than the Protanks.

This is with the IGO-W which is pretty darn nice for $15. The stock airholes are too small...way too small. Everyone talks about using a drill press to open them up, but I did it with a cordless drill.

is there a differance between cotton balls and "organtic" cotton balls?

All I am going by is everything I have read and most of them assert that you want the organic because there is less chance of things being in it that could be harmful. I don't think there is probably a big difference in the actual vaping, again guessing here because I don't have the actual experience yet, but it sounds as if that is just the best thing to go with. Sometimes you have to check a few places evidently but have heard of people getting it at Walgreens and Wal-Mart but that can depend on the specific store. I know Wal-Mart especially varies from one store to another in the same city as to what they carry. Hope that helps.

3 weeks in and been building and rebuilding for about 2 weeks now. I was obsessed , or at least my wife says so, but it's better than smoking. Did rip trippers micro coil on a PT2 and went from there.

Now vamping a KFL clone which I also modified. Organic boiled cotton, 30ga kanthal. Ordering some 28 ga tonight. I actually find building coils quite easy and we'll worth the time, getting the cotton wick just rite is the trick. I've pretty much made my mind up that from this point on I will be going RBA/RTA, THE EXPERIENCE IS JUST SO MUCH BETTER, and customizable. Currently waiting on Taifun GS and contemplating a Taifun GT. I'm also looking into mechs, but my new MVP2 is great right now and handling my coils at 1.3ohms pretty good.

Sorry for rambling, but vaping gets me excited, is that strange?!

What I've found in my experience over the last 2 weeks:

Wife's pure cotton(not boiled)- was okay, strange taste for first few hits even if saturated, favors seemed slightly muted in the beginning too

Organic not boiled- same as above but didn't last as long, wicked better, when flavor kicked in it really kicked in

Organic boiled 2 times 10min ea tap water- same as above but only lasted maybe 3-4 drags then all good to go.

Organic boiled and rinsed 2x in distilled water- almost zero strange taste maybe first or second drag, wicks better seems to fluff up and hold more juice.

My opinion, I'd at least boil it once just because you never know what they clean or bleach it with. I personally did half a bag of organic with distilled because I didn't like that taste and it helped with wicking for me.

On a side note, I hated waiting for it to dry so I threw half of them I did in the microwave for a couple minutes. Worked pretty good, had about 12 cotton balls 2 of them in the middle started to burn a little all the rest were dry or almost dry, they worked just the same as the ones that took a day to dry.

Not new to the rebuilding scene just figured I'd pop in and check things out here Lol.

Im using 100% pure cotton balls from walmart, no funky taste for me or anything like that. I use it in my nimbus, IgoW3 and my KFL+ no funky taste.

Just did a new build on my nimbus with 26g nichrome and a cotton cloud, Such a killer haha.

I've been vaping less than 2 months. Just ordered an IGO-W. Didnt want to spend much till I get a feel for the RBAs. The only thing I know about rebuilding is what I've seen on Youtube. Ordered some wire and I want to try some cotton wicks. I think it comes with some wire and wick also. Hopefully will be here this week and I can venture into a new hobby.

Sounds like you've listened to people's advice. :) Only thing I can say is, if you have a mechanical mod, go for dual coils, if not, just do a single coil. Ohm meter, or a VV/VW device is needed for rebuilding. It'll be a fun hobby. I dunno if you call me a pro or semi-noob. I rebuild a tank system all the time, but I haven't done any true micro coils. I have gotten stainless steel to work ONCE out of like 20 30 minute tries, and I give up on it. When I did get it to work, I had it set too high of an ohm setting, and it didn't heat up as much as I'd like... after two days, I tried to take out one wrap....... And, back to square one. :/

Good luck, it is an interesting hobby.

Hello,

I'm new to the forums but I thought I would weigh in. I've been vaping about a month and already I love rebuilding. I got into it because I had to. My first upgrade from CE4s was a Kanger T3s. Apparently, If you don't want them to leak/flood, you have to rebuild them with a micro coil and a cotton wick. I get the cotton wick as it does a better job filling the gaps around the wick, but I don't really know what the micro coil is doing for the leaking. All I know is it worked.

So, anyway, no I'm addicted to rebuilding my attys. It's a lot of fun!

Good luck everyone and happy vaping!
