Kanger coils nasty taste

Hey everybody, I recently got some 1.8 ohm kanger coils for protank ii and evod and some 2.2 ohm coils for the t3s, all from ebay. All of the coils i got have this disgusting burnt plasticky taste, and i am at a loss. I have never tried mods, and am not the most handy fellow. I was wondering if these are cheap knockoff kanger coils and if i buy them elsewhere, at a more legit place online? Is there any cartomizer i could switch to that doesnt use these nasty tasting atomizers? I soaked the t3s atomizers in vodka and thought that fixed it, but the nasty taste returned shortly afterward. Any sort of input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

1) Is the juice you're using known to taste ok in genuine Kanger coils (the ones that came with your clearos)?
2) What voltage/wattage are you firing the coils at?
3) After soaking the coils, did you prime them after reinsertion?

From what you've said so far, sounds like knockoffs using questionable wicks. At least they're good for rebuilding!

At 3.7v you should not expect to get a burny taste. Since you've already soaked them I would be at a loss to suggest anything more than they are just crappy coils. For a single coil atty like the T3S uses (my starter clearo which I have 12 of, and plenty of experience with) you should be able to take a few dry pulls (sucking with no power) and then be good to go.

I think you got crappy coils.

I always primed mine by filling the clearo, blocking off the airflow, and giving a few stout inhales. Usually has it going in about 30 seconds/after 2-3 air bubbles rise.

Alternatively, you can just let it sit upright for a couple minutes before firing. A 10 minute direct soak is pretty overkill; if they were that crappy at wicking, you'd only get 2-3 pulls before they went dry.

I've gotten legit ones from Vape101.com, but you'd probably be safe with any reputable online retailer. I usually approach ebay retailers with the same caution as my estranged Kenyan relatives (that sneaky cousin Moopsie...).

I had the same problem with the new kanger dual coil units for the Kanger Evod Glass...

The replacement coil on the Left is the NEW version with hidden wick, the coil on the RIGHT is the old version (I rebuilt this one) (the one on the right has better tasting hits)

The taste is so much better with the first version they came out with. I think they stopped selling the old coil units for the evod glass because they were so easy to rebuild. So I bought a dozen or so of the old version on the internet and have been rebuilding them. It's pretty easy... This is the video I found on it...

I'm thinking knock off coils. Protank 2's and the EMOW are pretty much all I use lately and I've never experienced the taste described. Well maybe occasionally when you've been using the coil non stop for a week but other than that, as long as you let the tank sit for 10 minutes after filling there should be no need to manually prime it unless you're using some really high VG juice.

This is exactly why I buy my coils locally and never off anywhere like Ebay. If I'm buying online, I check if the site is in the suppliers list here before anything else. lol.

I'd like to rebuild. But I like doing nothing more.

I have had several KANGER coils fall far short of working well lately. These were purchased directly from Kanger in a several thousand sollar co-op last year. All failures have been on Coils that read much higher than labeled. (POOR Leg Contact) and have the new softer bottom grommet. All worked after a good prime then went harsh within a few normal draws. I went through 3 in less than a single T3 mini tank. Finally installed one I had rebuilt - Problem solved.

Kanger or aftermarket, you can get a rash of defects. Best bet is learn to rebuild and collect a dozen or so to work with.
I rebuild mine at 1.8ohm and they work great.............most of the time

My daughter and I use Evod tanks on Evod 650 mah batteries. I get the Evod single coils either from Sun Vapers or Mt. Baker Vapor. I trust both sites to send me genuine Kanger products, and they have not failed me yet. Both have reasonable prices, reasonable shipping charges, great turnaround time from order to shipment. I have not had to use the customer service from Sun Vapers, but Mt. Baker has GREAT customer service.
