I thought I was being all thrifty and smart. I'd take my coils, soak them in vodka in an unltrasonic jewelry cleaner, rinse, dry and reuse.

Every. Single. One. Burned on first use. I mean burned like I was vaping charcoal. No more of that. the danged things are cheap enough. I'll just make them a bi-weekly purchase along with groceries. Ewww yuck ack!

That is NOT a normal experience.

Well then it fits in my life...lol

Did you take off the flavor wicks and dry burn them before reusing them?

No, didn't know that part. I just wanted to wash/dry/reuse

Don't throw them away! There may come a time when you want to recoil those little babies. Then you'll REALLY feel all thrifty and smart. It took me about 6 or 7 months and I wondered why I waited so long!

I thought about it but I really can't be bothered. Between a full courseload (4 classes this semester), a house with 2 dogs and 2 angsty teenage/young adult daughters, and a husband, and finding time for gaming and catching a ride on the harley in nice weather among all that my plate is full.

I don't do anything (occasionally I do experiment with dry burning with mixed results) with my Kanger coils except soak in vodka. I have ... maybe 30 coils that soak until I'm just about out, and then those come out of the vodka, and I start a new soaking collection. No problems with them.

It's been hit and miss. Some worked just fine. Most fried today. My iClear 30s coils do great every time oddly enough.

Honestly, I would recoil them with Microcoils. you will save a LOT of time down the road. Even my first recoil only took 15 minutes. I can now recoil a Kanger in under 5 minutes, and the microcoils will last weeks.

I still have a Kanger Protank Mini 2 that I recoiled with a 1.2 ohm microcoil in the 3rd/4th week of January, and it's still going strong. All I have to do is replace the cotton every 2-3 days and that takes exactly 42 seconds.

It would save the time of soaking, cleaning and dry burning those standard coils by just replacing the cotton.

Then, of course, you have your RBAs, which are a whole different beast to tame, but it's WELL worth it.

I know people enjoy that, and that's cool. I just don't like fiddling. When I can swing by the shop every couple weeks and grab a pack of coils on my way to get groceries.

Yep, and with proper care, the coil itself lasts for months. It takes less than 5 minutes to rinse, dry burn and re-wick. I really only wrap a coil now when I'm bored or want to try something new.

You wasted booze for just cleaning stuff?

I like my Evod coils. I just disassemble and hose 'em off under very hot water in the sink every 3 days or so. Shake, blow, refill and vape away. I don't dry burn nuthin' - just prime puff until the water is gone. I've been using my current one for about 3 weeks and it's still going strong.

I'm with you on this. I bought a crap load off ebay for less than $1 each.

I would love to be able to recoil the dual coils for my Aerotank! I still either keep old coils or just clean them as best as I can.

I tend to wash them out with very hot water, let them dry a little and then drip some 99.9% isopropyl alcohol onto the coil and wicks. This displaces any water and dries off very quickly. They never work as well as a new one though. My current one did have lime in it before, and now I've got a tankful of bubblegum. The flavours always seem muted, but I can't get them any better currently! Dry burning seems to do nothing for me on these coils.

I'm certainly going to have to spend a couple of hours scouring YouTube and practice recoiling! Hopefully I can put a single instead of a dual in there!

Yeah, they're the cheapest coils to replace. My Aspire Nautilus...I'm stingy with those, but it takes me quite a while to finish a 5ml tank anyhow...lol! I have cleaned and reused those. Same with my 30s, it's coils are pricey. Cartotanks as starting to take over my collection here. But I just revived a couple protanks (mine and my husband's with aero bases), picked up an Aerotank, and I love love love my mini's.

But I have 11 setups with 11 different flavors only 3 of which use those coils, so my coils last ages as it is. it certainly won't break the budget to grab a box here and there.

I just thought I'd save a little by washing them and reusing. I'll save my liquor from now on :toast:

So just for kicks, I pulled apart a coil. using the original wire, I slid some cotton in there. and after fiddling with it trying to get the legs through that teeny little hole I decided this was definitely not for me. Too tiny, too fiddly, but I had to try it :p

Yep, not for everybody.. It's great for those of us that can or need to do it, but not all are inclined, nor need to be.
