After the soak in Vodka, the coils still have gunk on them (or atleast mine did). A dry burn is going to remove all the gunk. I always do a dry burn before replacing my cotton. Good luck to you and happy vaping.
Nothing is necessary. You decide how far your want to take it. I rinse the coil under hot tap water, Dry burn the coil, rinse, then blow the water off. Other times I just rinse with no dry burn.
I never do vodka... seems like a waste of a perfectly good drinking liquid.

I don't know of any value to be gained by soaking in vodka or anything else for that matter.
Dry burning seems to me to be the most important thing, no matter what else you might do or not do.
I rinse my atomizers out with hot water and then dry burn them, and then rinse them out again.
I'm not sure if there is anything that can improve on that cleaning regimen.
