I am using 70% vg in all my flavors... and I know that this can cause issues, but I really prefer the vg. I understand that that will shorten the life span of the coils, and I'm ok with that since the texture and throat hit are where I'd like them to be. What I'm more interested in is what coils I can use in the EMOW and mini Genitanks I have that will work the best and last the longest, and the best voltage settings to use with those coils.

The tip to draw before firing to bring juice into the head is a good one. I had seen that on a review and it works quite well. Since I started doing that, I get nicer draws most of the time. The only drawback is if you draw a bunch of liquid into the head and then just take a short puff, you might get a little leakage into the drip tip if you throw it into your pocket or lay it down.

so the specific questions for what I have right now are:

1. if I use a 1.8ohm coil in my EMOW, what voltage setting will work out the best?
2. Will there be a noticable difference between the 1.5ohm and 1.8ohm coils?

Try adjusting the tank's air flow. If you are getting burnt hits you should 'tighten' the draw (less air flow). If the tank is flooding "loosen' the draw. Changing the atomizer resistance should have little effect on the longevity of the atomizer head. IMO the whole factory built dual coil atomizer head is a scam. They use more battery power, use more juice, and provide little in return. YRMV

I believe current (amps) is what determines the actual heat of the coil, so you'd have to look at a voltage to amp calculator. Here's a link:

edit: apparently I can't link to this website for whatever reason. just google "ecig amp calculator" and go to the first site that pops up.

Plug in your old resistance and your old voltage to see what current it calculates to. Then, plug in your new resistance, clear out the voltage and watts values, and keep the same current, to see what the new voltage is calculated to be.

This is completely my opinion, but I think that as long as you want to produce the same current, it doesn't matter what coil resistance you choose. You will use them up just as quickly. I also use Kangertech's coils. They're much cheeper than the Aspire or Joyetech coils. Just how quickly are you burning through them?

thanks for the info Cigmund, I'll try the calcultor out. I had been burning through them every two days or so... but have been getting a little more life out of them by doing just what you said, closed the air down to one hole, prime with a pre-draw, and not holding the button too long.

What I had read, that made sense, was that there was no reason to use a 1.5ohm coil on higher voltage, just burns hotter, but isn't going to really do much else. So I've been trying to keep it to 3.7 volts... some flavors are a bit better on 4.2volts, but nothing seems to be any better on the highest setting. Just wastes the battery.

I also find that the whole tank is getting a bit hot if I vape it like I like to... and I feel like the battery drains faster when it's warm. I probably need a bigger battery for my habits, but really don't want to dive down another money hole.

I've used the EMOW every day for around 8 months. I keep it at 4.0 - 4.1 volts, and I'm consistently getting 7-10 days per coil. Higher than that tends to give my juice a burning taste. I tried cleaning them with water, and with alcohol, also dry-burning slightly, and just leaving them alone. Almost no effect on the col life, although dry-burning isn't a great idea on these - too easy to ruin them. They're cheap enough that I don't mind replacing them weekly.

As far as the 1.5Ω coils go, my device came with 1.8Ω so that's what I always use to replace them. Logically speaking, the lower-ohm coils will heat a little faster and get a little hotter, but the battery won't last quite as long. That's how it works in my RDA's.

yeah, I just did the calculations for the 1.5ohm and 1.8ohm coils at the 3 voltages the EMOW has... seems to me that the 1.8ohms would be way better for battery life at any voltage -

3.7v:
1.5ohm : 9.13w, 2.47amps
1.8ohm : 7.61w, 2.06amps

4.2v:
1.5ohm : 11.76w, 2.8amps
1.8ohm : 9.8w, 2.33amps

4.8v:
1.5ohm : 15.36w, 3.2amps
1.8ohm : 12.8w, 2.67amps

or running the 1.8ohm at 4.2v should give nearly the same performance as the 1.5ohm at 3.7v, and at least be a little harder to burn out being a thicker coil.

anyone agree? disagree?

I had hoped to get a single vertical coil that fit to try too, but the ones they had at the shop looked like they'd be too small, were noticeably smaller. The girl there said they'd probably leak.

no thanks, I'm not looking to rebuild or get a new tank right now. I just want to make the most of the two kanger tanks I own. Let's try to keep this on topic, I'd like advice regarding the kanger coils. Thanks

I'm not telling you to rebuild.... not at all.

What I'm trying to say is I spent 2 years wasting my money and time on Kanger coils. I have over 100 used ones in my vape box.

I am trying to send you in the direction of a coil that actually lasts more than a few days.

If that is too "off topic" for you, then I am sorry.

You can try lower volts/watts, different resistances.... go for it... it won't make the slightest difference. Those 100+ coils in my box are proof of that.

I was replying to Leekeylee, who suggested rebuilding the coils.

I'd love to try an asipire tank, and it will probably be the next toy I buy. But I already have 2 brand new Kanger tanks, so I'd like to get the most out of them as well.

A couple of hours ago I switched in a new 1.8ohm coil, and I'm trying that at 3.7v. So far it seems to work fine. I'm getting a lot more sizzling and popping with this coil than I had been with the 1.5's. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. It does seem to get up to temp faster, but I'm not sure if that's the ohms or just it being new.

In my experience with stock shop bought kanger coils the quality control can be shocking which is why I suggested re-building. I love the kanger tanks but depending where you get the coils from this can give you a very negative outlook on the kanger tanks when you get poor quality coils.

I thought I would not get in to re-building coils but when I was wasting money on bad coils I took the plunge and re-built one. It is easy to do, can save you money and in my opinion give you a better vape but that said not everyone is in to re-building.

Your choice.
