Have had 2 evods and a protank 2 for a couple weeks. With several 50/50 juices and the heads at 2ohms I was happily vaping at 11 watts enjoying a nice warm vape. When swapping flavors I would replace the flavor wick with 2mm. Past couple days though I have had to lower wattage to 9 or else get a burnt taste, even on new heads. While keeping a good flavour and not having as warm a vape. Any thoughts?

I usually vape at 7 or 7.5 watts. Not sure how people are vaping at such high wattages without getting burnt taste. Mine go from light -- flavorful -- perfect-- good but dry -- bad -- burnt -- very bad. Most of my liquids are high pg, and one is higher vg but that one tastes better to me at even lower wattages -- 6.5 watts for joye cherry.

All the heads i've used are 1.9 to 2.0, the liquids have varied in thickness. At first I was getting great vapes at 11 watts. Maybe it was a wicking thing where after a while they got gunked up and couldn't wick as well forcing me to lower the wattage to avoid the burnt taste. I could have just been expecting that same great flavour the entire time. I have tried flipping the rubber cap to increase wicking on the current head, while wicking better, still tastes burnt at 11. Thanks for all the coments, have been getting a better understanding of wattage/voltage

Your coil might have a hot spot in it after swapping wicks so many times. That's just my guess. I rebuilt my kanger head this morning with cotton and a 1.7 coil. Running a 60/40 mix through it at 15W with no issues other than big, puffy clouds :) Throttled it back down to a more modest 12W after testing. The only thing I can think is that the wick is getting choked or a hotspot, but I'm new to rebuilding.

I'm still new to all this, but after buying dozen tanks, I realize a VV Ego-C Twist is not enough- I need a mod. Pretty happy with most tanks, but the more I read and learn, it is becoming obvious that EVERYTHING is a guideline- There are no pat answers to anything due to all the variables- It seems each component has a personality. Change out a coil for another identical (?) one, and it's time to start playing again! New liquid? Now ya done it! Buy the latest 'Uber-Tank' with all the great reviews, and a $3 Chinese generic does better- Or not! At least this has been my experience thus far.

I think it's like anything else, the quest for performance takes a few $, time, experience, and lotsa fiddling. Luckily, it seems that the folks who don't want extreme performance are happy with a basic setup, and the hot-rodders have all sorts of things to experiment with so are happy with the abundance of variables and parts. I'm one of the latter, and must admit, the constant search for improvement is fun and most items are not very expensive. Having used these to go from 3 packs a day to 3 or 4 a day, it's LOTS cheaper and much better for me also, I believe. Cazan

Honestly, on a variable device with a new tank or coil, I start at whatever the minimum setting is and bump up until I find my happy place.

I'm not really all that concerned with the numbers themselves other than using them as a point of reference.
+1 on this. Use what ever tastes best to you.

wow seems so complicated for this noob but i'm sure i'll understand in time lol...my kanger evod starter kit is rockin bare bone stock although i did purchase an ego-c twist but don't really see the need to twist up the power yet...maybe im missing something :(

If you're happy where you're at, you're not missing anything.

I was just going to say I am surprised you where getting good vapes at 11w on a 2.0 in an evod. I usually don't got higher then 9 before i start getting burnt flavor. I agree with who ever was saying don't worry about the number, but what it tastes like. Also toyranosaur, I went from a twist to an MVP 2 and it has been one of the best upgrades I have made!

I use Voltage mostly instead of the wattage setting on my SVD, but no matter what the ohm rating on my Kanger head is (I rebuild them usually between 2.0 to 2.5 is ok with me) I never go higher that 4.2 volts. I tend to fluctuate between 3.8 to 4.2, anything higher than that i get burnt vapor. I sometimes wonder why the hell I even bought a VV/VW device in the first place... Yeah I do! The SVD looks just like a lightsaber hilt!!! (and it's a great device!!)
