HUGE shout out to Ray Lopez and his youtube rebuild and flooding fix video for the protank.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpdkE7bH-1A
I have always liked my protank, but the frequent flooding and gurgling made it somewhat of a PITA. I wanted to rebuild my atty, but was hesitant to do so with out a video. He gave a very clear and easy to follow video. My protank no longer floods or gurgles because he told me how to change the low quality, over stuffed cilica wick and to turn my chimney cap upside down. All I have to say now is, "Cotton balls, Cotton balls, Cotton balls! Oh, and did I mention, COTTON BALLS!!!":vapor:

This build works beautifully with a high quality 80Vg/20Pg juice, 3.7V batter and 30 gauge Kanthal.

Watched the video & read a post in the notes below the video & may have found a REAL fix for the flooding & gurgling. Wil try both of these as my wife uses Pro tanks & loves them which means I gotta' find a fix or buy coil heads every month to keep her going.
I use a genny & reo.
Will post results later.

This is a follow up on the video. Check out the link by another user in the comments of this video as it stopped the flooding & gurgling for me.
Also I made a 1.5 ohm coil by using 6 wraps of 30 ga. wrapped on a large paperclip & cotton wck.
This seems to work great when using the link mentioned above.

Later,

I was searching for fixes to my problem with the Protank 2 as well. It kept flooding/gurgling whenever the juice went lower than half way. However, that was when I first got it. After I took the entire Protank 2 apart to clean it and change flavors, then putting it back together, I've not had one flood or gurgle at all and my tank goes to almost empty at times. I have absolutely no idea why it was fixed, but it worked. I also don't know how it came stock, but I make sure to put the longer glass end of the pyrex tank at the base with the 2 rings on the top and bottom where they're supposed to be.

I've yet to have a flood/gurgle after about 10 tanks of juice. I'm very pleased with a accidental remedy!

I found this thread reading up on this tank, but i ordered the mini. The wire, it's just 29 gauge from hardware store ?. Or some wire made for e-cigs. Haven't tried, but it does look easy to do.

edit: does everyone just go ahead and do this, or only if you have issues with this tank. It sounds like it works better after doing this, from the video.

I have been tring for 3 nights now and this is what works for me:
3mm innen diameter micro coils - kanthal 28.gauge - 6wraps - 1.5ohm.
2mm ekowool (1mm doubled over) - it expands so dont worry about it beeing loose.
No flavour wicks - the 2mm wick covers enough of the chanel so no leaks.

85%vg 5%water 10%pg flavouring

If you chain vape or vape at higher watts then you will get gurgling no matter what wick coil set up you use.
Because of higher temreture the air in the tank expands and pushes juice out, this effect is inncreased when the ratio juice to air is lowered.

Ya know, I've tried cotton in my kanger coils, and dammit if I can't taste them burn.. Tried it a few times and it never fails.. I used more, and less.. Same thing.. The cotton comes right through the flavor.. What am I missing???

Usually if you can taste the cotton burning you are using to much. The wick should slide back and forth in the coil fairly easily. If it is too tight there is less room for juice within the coil making the cotton prone to burning. The juice is what keeps the cotton from burning so think less cotton=more juice.

Ive tried more and less. Still taste it. :( Soooo, I went to my local vape shop, explained my situation, and they were a great help. Hooked me up with a 3 foot piece of 32guage kanthal, and 2 short pieces of 1 n 2 mm silica twisted wick gratis to try. I twisted up a coil using the 2mm with a needle in the middle. 1.9 with 6 twists. added a few strands over the top once installed, and voila.. No burnt taste. Actually better taste than stock coils too.. Im sold and hooked..
