I’ve have the 120w version for a little over a week and like it so much that I’ve ordered the 200w version (got the 120 in red with black buttons; the 200 will be in black with red buttons).
The overall fit and finish is decent. It didn’t wow me, but I also was not disappointed either. I feel the fit and finish is more than appropriate for the price point. The only quibble is the recessed 510 connection. It works fine with most tanks and drippers I’ve tried, but I have had a couple of tanks (Goliath v1 and another one which I don’t recall the name of) where I had to fiddle with the 510 on the tank to get it to make a connection. On the plus side, everything has fit flush.
I got this mainly to see how the temp control with Nichrome worked. After using it for a week I’m finding it to be valuable, which is why I have another on order. It is not actually temp control – functionally, it’s more along the lines of the taste control feature on the iJoy Solo and Solo Mini.
For example, with a Nichrome coil on a dripper, it starts to scale back the wattage once the wick starts getting dry. However, unlike real temp control, it never scales it back to nothing – if you keep firing a dry-ish coil, it will eventually burn no matter how low the temp is set.
One of my initial tests was to rebuild a Subtank coil with nichrome and way too much cotton so that it wicked poorly. On standard wattage mode, it would start to get harsh after a second or two, and would really harsh if I continued to draw, even if the wattage was set quite low. The same coil in nichrome “temp” mode would get a little scratchy but no where near as harsh. It wasn't a great vape, but it was passable versus the intolerable vape from the same coil in wattage mode.
Think of the Kanger nichrome temp mode as a helping hand for less than ideal wicking or to help out those (such as myself) who get distracted and forget to drip. Nothing earth shattering, not real temp control, but a helpful feature.
