Greetings, welcome to the forum.

Once you have 5 newcomer posts, you can check out the rebuildable atomizers subforum, where there are some big threads on PT2 rebuilds. For lower ohms, it's better to use 30 or 28 gauge Kanthol -- 10 wraps around a 1/16th" drill bit give you about 1.3 oHms (i do this with cotton for wicking material).

28 is gonna be tough with protank heads on a vv device, i would go with 30 as that was the butterzone for me when i was doing them, 28 takes alot of coils which is tough to fit in to the head sometimes and i had alot of insulators split on me when i was trying 28 and unless you buy some aga insulators from kidneypuncher youll end up having to take apart a new head to get a new insulator

My favored builds:

1.8 ohm coil:
1/16th ID
30 gauge kanthal A-1
8 wrap contact coil
1 strand peaches n creme ekru cotton yarn through the center

The same procedure using 28 awg instead of 30 awg will result in a 1.3 ohm coil.

I use the exact same 1.8 ohm coil on mine. It works really well on my eGo-c. But I split the yarn (can't figure out how to fit all 4 strands through the coil) , 3 strands through the coil and the other on top for a flavor wick. Haven't had any issues with flooding or dry hits.

Yeah, I wrap the 30 around the drill bit 8 times and then pinch all the coils together. Slide the drill bit out and take my mini torch to the coil to get it red hot twice. The wire seems to hold shape better after the heating, so I try to get everything tightly shaped at that point. Then thread the cotton yarn through it and install it in the head.

Hope that helps.

I really like cotton, and silica tastes a little off for me now. But I think its a personal taste. The biggest pro for me to originally try cotton was that I could just run down to walmart and get the peaches n cream 100% cotton yarn 360ft for like $3 and didn't have to wait on vape mail again. I know my buddy uses the cotton ball stuff, I hate touching it, but it works well for him. So I would at least try the cotton and you could order some silica or ekowool or whatever. (this is where its good to have local vaping friends to share with)

As for size if you use 1/16 drill bit like I do that works out to 1.58mm. So that really depends on the size coils you are making.

Also just make sure if you do use cotton to make sure the wick is wet before you hit that fire button. Cotton will burn, a taste you won't soon forget. Oh and when you boil some of the yarn cut it into smaller pieces first so you don't end up with a giant knot.

Best of luck.

Yeah, sorry I just edited. Cut about 10 ft off and boil. And like I said, I seperate 1 of the strands out of the 4 and put it on top of the coil. If you can fit all 4 strands though the coil give it a try. It just seems like using all 4 strands fill the gaps nice to prevent leaking and flooding but still you enough flow to prevent dry hits.

Experience is the best teacher.
