Anyone compared the Protank flavor to the Vivi Nova? Vivi is about equal to a carto to me, but less bothersome to fill and top off.

I've heard people say they favor the flavor of the Protank vape over the Vivi Nova. I probably need to order one and try it. It looks like a really good tank vaping solution.

As much as I hate to say it, the ViVi Nova provides a LOT more flavor in my experience. My Protank gives me even less flavor than my eVods and T3s, but I think I'm gonna hold onto it because the vapor production, tank capacity, and safety of the Pyrex over plastic is worth the hassle. Hopefully requesting a flavor boost from some of my favorite vendors will help to compensate for the loss. Having some of my favorite juices end up tasteless in my Protank is still a little disappointing, though.

Just to bump up benriz's excellent and, I'm guessing, relevant to many, question: How did folks with the Kanger Protank cover up the air holes, because it's as airy as the T3. If 3 of four holes are covered by me wrapping my finger around the bottom skirt's slotting, it hits great. But the airholes themselves are at under the skirt slots and there doesn't seem to be enough room to shove a toothpick in there without moving the center post around. I'd really appreciate some airhole blocking tips/tricks for the Protank.

I've had my protanks for 2 weeks now and I agree with the stock wicks the flavor was very muted. With that said I have been rewicking all my T3's with cotton for months now. I figured the cotton might make a difference and sure enough the protank ROCKS when rewicked with cotton! If you are having any problems with your protank like flavor, leaking or wicking you should give rewicking with cotton a try. Great flavor, incredible plums of vapor also! I'm still using the first 2 heads that came with my 2 protanks, and I rewick with new cotton every week or so and get great results. I know these are meant to be great out of the box, but so far imo no bottom coil out there is great out of the box without fiddling with it. For the best results after rewicking with cotton I would at least let the new wick soak for about an hour or even 2 before hitting. You might have a little cotton taste but this goes away quickly etc...

I am getting some dry burny flavor after 5 days on one head. The flavor is muted compared to mini vivis IMO. I haven't removed a wick yet. Might try that tonight.

Try rinsing with warm water, removing the center head shaft, removing flavor wicks and and dry-burning. That'll burn off the dark gunk and leave you with a nice clean coil.

I have an odd thing I noticed and i'm not sure if it is juice or tank related. I have Mount baker vapor Razzle Dazzle liquid that turns dark dark brown by days end in the Kanger but it never did it in a vivi. Tried a whole day with the vivi today and still crystal clear liquid. Any thoughts or ideas?

I assume it's due to the liquid in the tank being in constant contact with the coil and its layer of dark gunk. In the Vivi Nova, that thick gunk would have to travel down the wicks and into the juice, which it just doesn't do.

I think mine is defective especially since I don't see anyone reporting this.

I have been using it and it has been standing upright. I gave up on it and started using a small carto tank.

The Pro-tank was sitting half full for quite a long time, it is a quarter full right now and is leaking. The o-rings and gasket are all in place and things were tightened down.

I think I will empty it and later check for burrs or uneven turning of the metal. I think things are not fitting they way they should.

It is for sure a leaker even though things are tightened down and rings and gasket are in place.

You likely do have a defective unit. A bunch were shipped from Kanger with the glass/brass seams not sealed properly. Kanger acknowledged it and has corrected the problem at the mfg end. Check with your vendor and see if they acknowledge it.
Sun-Vapors has a little blog on it. I'm not certain, but I think Got Vapes has talked about it in their thread here on ECF.

Just received this today from iVape. Very nice construction, feels solid, and has weight too it. Before purchasing, I watched the video review by Phil, which was pretty great by the way. He mentions that you need to remove the center tube to remove one of the wicks. This allows better flow, flavor, and NO dry hits. I dont know why, but it just works. He mentions this same "tactic" with the Vape Only BCC, which I have as well. On the Vape Only, it is near impossible to remove the center tube with your bare hands .. I ended up breaking one and damaging my fingers!! I have a new method on how to remove the wick .. Just use needle nose pliers/tweezers, keep the center tube on, but remove the silicon cap, and use the needle nose tool to remove the top wick outright. It just slides right out, with EASE. Try it, it works flawlessly.

This thing is hitting PRIMO. (i used the same exact method with the BCC and it is also hitting PRIMO). Just plain amazing!

Man your story sounds like mine. I watched the Busardo video. I tried to remove that post, finally did. Hurt the hell out of my fingers I couldn't put the post back in its broken. I did what you did with the tweezers and it's working. I almost threw this thing away. I'm not buying anymore heads for it i can promise you that much. I like to rebuild and if I can't get that post back in, screw it. I have an evod now and Protank on the way. I pray to the baby Jesus that the post is east take off and put back in.

How did you block the air holes? I hate to have to fiddle with device but I can see how this thing would be decent IF you could do something about the insanely lose draw!!!

easy and ugly: put a piece of paper towel between the the tank and your device(with hole for the connecter). I've double the paper towel to get a tight enough draw. If I can solve the flooding problem I'll get a gasket or washer to replace the towel.

Are you using the "beauty ring"?
I find that without the beauty ring the draw is way too loose, but with it on, the draw is similar to a T3 or EVOD. I use it as kind of a lock nut. I screw the beauty ring all the way down, put the Pro-Tank on, then unscrew the beauty ring up until it makes firm contact with the Pro-Tank. This also provides a secure wobble free device that I'm comfortable sticking in my pants pocket.

I have thought of experimenting with silly putty or something like that to fill the air channels for a tighter draw.

Just FYI for anyone who removes a "flavor wick" and then has flooding issues: The top 2 wicks are placed next to each other, and together are the same width as the main wick. The silicone cap sits perfectly on the top wicks, not loose and not tight.

This means if you take one wick out, there is a gap left on both sides the size of the wick. If you take out both, the silicone won't push down to the top of the main coil.

I am extremely happy with mine. If you've never tried a bottom coil, don't let the words "cool vape" scare you, or "loose draw". I thought I would need to do all sorts of modifications, but I honestly love it the way it is (which surprised me).

They also don't have the coil too tight and dug into the wick, which means you can VERY easily pull out the wick and throw a piece of cotton in there. I noticed with my cotton ball wick, the fluffiness makes the small gap between the coil and silicone cap a non-issue.

I love it!

I've never rewicked, so can you plz explain to me how much cotton you used and brand? TIA

I ordered several pro tanks. The first one just would not vape at first. Then just burned. So I replaced the coil unit. 2nd coil worked alot better. Maybe I can rewick the first one....?

This was using a spinner. Tried out the tank w/ the 2nd coil on my VAMO and it burns like a sonuvagun....? Needs less wick?

I'm sure Toadyfatz will answer your question as well, but since I'm here I'll tell you what I did.

1.)Don't over-analyze a simple procedure (I always do and then never get anything done).

2.) Go to walgreens or cvs and get 100% cotton...cotton balls. Mine from Walgreens says organic cotton.

3.) Just in case, use a lighter to make sure there's no synthetic fibers. Heat will make synthetic fibers curl up and harden.

4.) I boiled 2 balls for about 5 min, dried them with paper towels. Didn't let them dry any longer than 5 min or so.

5.) Stretch out parts of the ball, find parts with parallel strands. Twist different parts up. See what looks about right.

6.) Use fingers to gently pull out silica wick. It's super easy.

7.) Twist in cotton, trim it all the way by the base.

8.) let soak for at least 30 min. Primer puff if using it that quick.

9.) Enjoy.

Seriously...just do it. Last night was my first time to use cotton. It was easy to do because the wire isn't strangling the silica wick. It will take you 10 min and 30 min of waiting.

Do it! ;)

Thank you... cotton balls. Who'd have thunk it?!!

QUESTION... I have some heads w/ long wicks left over from some CE5 cleros that I am trashing. Can I also use the wicks out of the unused new heads if I trim them?

You could definately use those. If you mean using the silica wicks from the ce5's in your protank. I promise though, the cotton ball thing is way too easy. Another plus is that the cotton will expand where the silica won't as much.

That's why it was so easy for me to stop being such an OCD perfectionist about it. It doesn't matter if the cotton ball wick you make is half the size of the coil hole or just barely fits through. It will expand to fit. I plan on just replacing it every few days and hopefully the coil will last at least a month before popping. I promise you'll love it, and much healthier than silica.

I have a protank on the way and this cotton rewicking has got me interested...

Can you replace the coil as well in this things? I mean with your own wire and wick? I heard the flavor is better with cotton, I've never used it on my Mini Nova, but I may just have to give this a shot on the protank if its going to help keep it from flooding and deliver better flavor...
