Hi all... i'm currently using an innokin svp and mvp together with iclear 16 and kanger evod and protank.

These are the problems I face.

ic16 - leaks from the bottom + dry hits.

kanger evod - gurgling and lack of flavour

kanger pro tank - just a complete flop. I dont know why but this has been giving me problems from flooding to leakages to gurgling to the extent i threw it away.

I'm considering getting a kayfun to solve all my problems what do u guys think>?

Well I got my roommate an Evod, and it didn't work out very well, he was getting juice in his mouth a lot and it leaked on him a lot too. I went back and exchanged it for a Protank Mini, and hopefully that will work better. At least you can get the tip off it, take it apart more than an Evod, so if he has problems with it I can fix it.

I quit using Kanger stuff months ago when I went to a mech and RBA, I was pretty tried of re-coiling Kanger heads, and Protanks never did give me the vape I wanted, or the consistency of performance.

The most common reason anyone gets a mouthful of liquid with any of these BCC clearos is pulling on it like they are sucking on a McDonalds milkshake. I don't know why people think these things are designed for 10 second non-stop pulling. If you do that - yeah, you will blow right past the partial vacuum keeping liquid in there and end up sucking liquids right out of them.

You threw the wrong one away!! Get the Protank II out of the trash and get an Aerotank base for it. Rebuild the coils on a 1/16 drill bit w/32 ga. kanthal, 6 wraps, (1.8Ω)evenly spaced. Use 2 strands of the 4 strand Peaches and Cream yarn for wick. Best vape you can get with a tank. I got and EH Pro Kayfun Lite Plus last week and it's a freakin' nightmare. I've tried every wicking config out there...bleh~!~

Go Kayfun lite+ V2. Get it at 101Vape.com

Just got one yesterday and it is up and running since about 7:00 PM last night. Got a second around 12:00 noon today and that one is up and running also.

But you will need some supplies. Cotton, Kanthal 28g, a torch, a 3/32 drill bit and a good pair of tweezers.

Look at Rip Tripper and PBusardo, along with others, for videos and pictured instructions on building, wrapping, a micro coil and wicking it with cotton.

I'm vaping on both of them as I type this. But then I'm vaping on a Nautilus and a few other tanks also.

Than you are clearly doing something wrong. Could be the 32g Kanthal you are using. It comes with enough 28g to make one coil. That is what I used on the 2 I have as the Kanthal I order won't be here until Tuesday.

Organic Cotton for the wick.

I use all the tanks you mention (although rarely iClear16s in honesty).

I got another Kayfun-type this morning, and built it up tonight. It's legendary. i.i.r.c. it cost me $31.

I can make all the others work for me, but these days I make my own coils and that solves most of the issues.

You didn't really throw it away did you? I bought a PT2 only last week (with base) and it's not far off perfect. :)

1: ic16 is a topcoil, so it shouldn't flood; has to be a problem at the base or on a connection point below the liquid that is not sealed....

unless you leave it lying on the side alot; then it could leak from the coil area. If that is it, then just leave it upright.

2: evod: bottom coil tank. More likely to flood than a topcoil. If you think it's flooding leave it upside down in a cup for a few minutes then try it.

The coils do tend to flood after a few day of use. The flood less when rewicked with cotton.

3: protank: glass tank.
Again it's a bottom coil tank; also affected by size and temperature; as with any bottom coil tank, keeping it upside down with prevent flooding that occurs from temperature changes.

A glass tank can last forever, so I'd suggest you don't throw away a glass item in future. Plastic items eventually bread down on their own.

If you couldn't figure out you basic protank and even got so impulsive to throw away a glass tank, I'd say save your money and stick to cheap topcoil CE4 tanks for a while.

Maybe try out a carto cigalike, or a v-nano. The v-nano is so small, almost like a carto, it just can't leak.

--- oh; and if every tank is flooding, it sounds like you are sucking too hard

Organic Cotton for the wick.

I've tried 28 ga and that wasn't all that and a bag of chips so I moved up to 30 ga. and that's a little better in my EHPro. I've tried rolled organic cotton, rolled hemp fiber, 1 mm hemp yarn in different combinations of thicknesses, Peaches and Cream cotton in various configs and nothing is consistant. The P & C yarn with 3 of the 4 strands is working best with a 30 ga. 1.7Ω build. I have is cut so the ends of the strands are just at the top of the juice channels. It will vape pretty good until I set it aside for a bit. I have to prime it everytime after it's been sitting or it will dry hit after a couple of hits. I've tried it on various mods and it seems to like the MVP 2 at 7.5 watts the best. Pretty good on the Kamry 101, not so much on the Sigelei 20 watt or the Smok Zmax. Even with all that, it's still less hassle than my drippers or Kraken or Promethius, but my Protank II's at 1.8Ω with 2x 1mm hemp wicks blow it out of the water for consistancy, flavor and vape quality. I'm still tinkering with it though, gotta be user error somewhere in all of that.

10/11 wraps of 28g gives me 1.6 ohms.

As for the size and placement of the wick as in the image above. I have read that you aren't supposed to cover the juice channel but I can't see how you do that and still have enough wick to actually get down to the juice channels.

IMG_0149.jpg

This setup I'm using was copied from one, or 2, of the videos I watched on setting up a KFL. From Rip Tripper and PBusardo, IIRC.

It's been working for me. But I am Brand New to Kayfun's. My first wick didn't work very well. It wasn't big enough and just sat on top of the ledge where the juice channels end. I then pulled it apart and did what I show in the 2 images I posted.

I personally like the evod and protank's. For the price you can really get a lot out of these. The problem seems to be more with the wicking. I would suggest doing your own cotton wicks with the existing coils. This will soak up more juice, avoiding the dry hits and leaking. A little leaking is normal (a small dab on the battery head, almost like condensation) after a little time from my experience. I never had juice in the evod's mouthpiece after using cotton, but i did with the stock setup.

Wow! I am always surprised when I read about people having trouble with ProTanks and Aeros. I guess I am one of the lucky ones as I have had nothing but good times with both! The Aero and the ProTank2 with Aero base on my main tanks. No leaks, no gurgling, no other problems. Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself!

I hope you find something that works well for you...

Same here Lurch. PT II w/Aerotank base, 1.8Ω coil, hemp wick = vaping heaven!! I can rebuild a PT II head in 10 minutes, easy as pie. I like my Promethius and Krakens, they are just a bit fussy. I'm sure I'll get this Kayfun down one day and be happy with it too.

Your not the only one. I have had great luck with my protanks and even though I have a kayfun, I still use the kangers regularly.

There seems to be a learning curve to vaping. Some people think its 'plug and play' and its not, theres an amount of patience and finesse that is necessary for success. Sometimes its just a bad seal or a crappy pack of coils that lead people to believe a certain tank system is junk. Meanwhile, its the persons fault for not understanding the machine they are using and not troubleshooting accordingly (not directed at the OP).

I have found that turning the coil so it is in line with the juice channels is a plus for wicking with cotton.
After running the cotton thru the coil, I stand both ends straight up and put the bottom half of the chimney on and cut the wick slightly above the top. Then loosely push the cotton down both sides.
I hope this helps. I get very consistent wicks this way, never a dry hit or gurgle.
