Kanger Tank Spitting with 1.8ohm atomizer- what to do?? Help please!

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

So I've been vaping off and on for about 3 years, picking it up, quitting analogs, and causally doing it ever since.

I started with an eGo, finally upgraded to a VAMO v2 and a Kanger Protank/IBTanked tank with an Airflow controller a couple months back and couldn't be happier. Found a vendor (Velvet Vapors) that has flavors I really dig that suit me.

Ran out of my atomizers and purchased a 5pack of some new Kanger 1.8ohm attys because I used to drip, and really liked LR atomizers, so I figured 1.8ohm would give me better vapor production.

Boy am I wrong... I can't find a wattage/voltage that works for these. At all. My juice gurgles and spits in my mouth regardless, and it's really frustrating. My original atomizers were fantastic, but I don't remember what ohm they were...

Any advice would be helpful about what to do. Did I buy the wrong ones? Is it fixable? I'd really like to vape all these new flavors I just got, but I can't stand getting juice in my mouth every other inhale... Please, veterans, help me out! :)

Thanks!

If your tank isn't sealing at the top is will never stop gurgling and flooding. Sounds like you should add a little bit more wicking cotton can work great as an overwick. Open the air control if its too tight you will be drawing the juice in like a straw. That's why protanks a have such a loose draw you just have to get used to how you draw on it.

Laying a bit more flavour wicks MAY solve the spitting. But I believe the issue might be that the Vamo uses pwm, which exacerbates the spitting. The spitting is less pronounced when the protank is paired with a Provari (not telling you to get one, by the way).

Another option would be to fire the device BEFORE I bring the tip to my mouth. The spitting only happens when I first fire it, hence I keep it away from my lips/mouth at the first fire. Yeah, it's a pita, but such is a vaper's life. Different devices/delivery system/juices, different approaches.

Hope this helps.

Hello Digital Fixation, welcome to the forums!

I'm sort of in the same boat, having some spitting issues with my protank v1. please do report back your experiences and findings if you can.

I'm running a micro-coil I built yesterday, cotton, no flavor wick. 28 gauge kanthal, 12 wraps, 5/64 drill bit, 1.8ohms. running it at 4.8v on an ego twist. tastes great, vape is pretty warm, and it's been pretty consistent, which I really really like. no flooding or gurgling as far as I can tell. Maybe I am just nuts but (I think) I can taste the juice on my throat, not taste from the juice, but tasting actual juice? Maybe I am just imagining things?

I will try to add a flavor wick and see how that goes.

good luck!

This may be a newb suggestion as I am no guru, but I have quite a bit of experience with the pro tanks. Yes there are ways you can "build" a better solution, but I would suggest this... Unscrew the bottom of your tank. Put the tank upside down on a flat surface. Place something like a paper towel on the shaft end of the coil. Face the bottom of the tank/coil towards your mouth and blow into it to push out the excess juice. Screw it back on without over tightening it. Look at the connection on your device and if you see fluid, clean it first. Then screw it back on without over tightening. Like I said, I know that sounds basic, but sometimes thats all you need. FYI be careful when you fill not to get juice in the airflow by overfilling your tank, this often leads to these problems to begin with.
Also, the 1.8 ohms are nice but I have found that I need to lower volts and wattage to dial in the right vape for whatever juice. I tend to lower the volts to around 3.5-4.2, and 7.5-9 watts with a 1.8 ohm coil. Otherwise I end up getting the burnt taste or loss of primary flavor. What you are describing sounds more like flooding and thick juice to me. Good luck man, hope I might have helped.

What happened when I did away with the flavour wick was that the vape was definitely better. Microcoil with cotton wicks without flavour wicks.

Unfortunately, I have to top it up when it reaches 1/3 tank. BUT.......one thing that made me put the flavour wick back in was that I would get ulcers/sores on my tongue and gums. This made me conclude that although there did not seem to be any spitting, juice was definitely getting into my mouth. After using flavour wicks again, the ulcers/sores have not returned. Yes, it may have been coincidental, but I don't think so.

I may try to cut a piece of mesh and stuff it into the tube to capture spitbacks. No idea whether it would work or not untill I try it.
