I have been on my EVODs with 1.8 stock coils for almost 2 weeks now.

Halo Menthol Ice is Great but actually used some 0 mg to knock down the nic to 12 and reduce Some of the flavor. I like it better slightly muted.
Halo Malibu is good but at 12 mg not as full of flavor as the Menthol Ice.

Halo doesn't advertise their ratios but they flow like 50/50.

Moon Mountain Cosmo's Custard is lacking flavor strength with the EVOD but getting some better after steeping for 5 days, (Eff that...)
It's also 65/35 Vg/Pg.

The cleanest burning seems to be the Menthol Ice. I cleaned the Malibu coil after a week cause I killed the bottle and I thought there was a vapor
reduction, I could have been wrong though. The MI coil is almost 2 weeks old and I haven't had Any burning taste. I'll clean it at two weeks whether I
think it needs it or not.

After HOT water washing and soaking, my one coil came out fluffy and white except for the very tips that look a little brown still.

My God, what an incredible community you have here! I'm blown away by all of the replies, you guys know a lot about vaping!

The stock coil, I dunno about the ohm, don't have a meter :/ Can I get a regular ohm meter, or do I need one that's specifically build for vapers? (I can see some online vape shops are selling ohm meters for this and that model)
The ones I have now are 1.8 ohm, at least on the package.

I've tried every advice in this thread, and I'm really satsified with it now - after I cleaned it again using HOT water this time, soaked the wick in juice for a longer period of time, and only smoke on low volts, it's really good, and I can't really taste the foul burn taste anymore.

Who would've knew that vaping was such an advanced subject? Lol

Some of you have given me great advice on other tanks, and I can see some of you are building your own coils? DavidOck; What do you mean by rebuilding the coil?

(Also, I pulled out the cotton from one of my brand new coils >< Can I just buy replacement cotton somewhere and shove it it?)

Thanks a lot, all of you for your great answers to a newbie like myself! :)

Well, some of us have been at it for a while :) And yes, there can be a lot to it, not as simple as open the pack, pull one out and light it. But the "tricks" are easy and often transfer to other toppers, leveling out the learning curve.

You can use a regular DMM (Digital MultiMeter) or ohmmeter, just remember to zero out the leads first. (Put it on the lowest ohm setting, typically 200. Touch the lead tips together and let the reading stabilize, note the value. Subtract that from the reading of the coil.) Some like the vape specific ones to use as a base for rebuilding. I like a DMM because I can check values as I build.

The single bottom coil heads are pretty easy to totally rebuild, although small. Lots of vids on how, just google up "rebuild Kanger coil" or similar phrase. Sterile cotton balls are one source for wicking them. When I rebuild my Kanger types, I tend to use silica wick for the main wick, so I can dry burn a few times before needing to build a new coil. I find threading the wick through an installed coil too aggravating :) But I use 100% cotton yarn for the flavor wick, and just toss and replace that with each cleaning.

On my true rebuildables, I use rayon for wick. Some prefer the KGD type of japanese cotton pad. And there are other acceptable wicking materials as well. But cotton balls will work to get started :)

Welcome pesaroso!

David's comments are all good. I do have a blog (click on the number next to my blog counter) and you'll see a couple of things I referenced when I first started rebuilding.

I have both a vape-specific ohmmeter as well as a DMM. I have even used some of my mods to check my builds (at least early on before I started building around 1 ohm or less.) All my readers are within +/- 0.1 ohms of each other. So, I respect the lowest number (when below 1 ohm) and am not terribly concerned when I'm up around 1.7-1.8 ohms.

Thank you so much all of you - with your help, I have reached a conclusion! :D

As long as I smoke on 3.2 - 4.0, it's all good! If I crank it up to 4.4 - 4.8, I get the burnt taste. Weird, since my first coil could go all the way without any issues, but I didn't really go higher than 4.0 anyway.

I'm going to teach myself some things you have suggested in this thread - coil rebuilding, wick replacement, and experiment using different heads. Thank you so much!

Maybe a mod could edit the title to [SOLVED] or something, for anyone googling the same thing? :)

Hi everyone! :)

I recently bought an EVOD BCC vaporizer from a vape store.

After just under a week of smoking on it, I started to notice a small change in flavour, basically a tiny taste of the vape itself being "burnt". I figured it was time to change coil, so I did (bought a 5-pack of replacement coils), filled in fresh juice, fired it up, started to smoke, and hooooly .... what an awful taste! It was really warm smoke, my mouth hurt - luckily I didn't inhale it.

After reading some threads in here, I tried to change the coil again - just in case I had a bad replacement coil (they are all sealed, but I tried anyway) - same thing with the other new one.

I disassembled the vaporizer and soaked the parts - except the battery of course - in lukewarm water for a while, before patting it dry and doing a reassembly. I also did a "dry burn" (is that the name?) by pushing the buttons for a few seconds without any juice, and with the plastic cap removed temporarily.
Let it dry again, refilled fresh juice, and.. same thing. Changed the V from 4.8 and 4.4 down to 3.6 and 3.2 just to test it, but no dice.

It's not vapor anymore - it's smoke. It tastes awful, and it stays in the air for as long as cigarette smoke :/

Any other ideas? The store I bought it in is inaccessible for me now, I bought it when I was travelling, but it was a legit store in the US.

Thank you for any replies! :D

Dont dry burn those. the insulator will scortch and you will always have a nasty taste. Before I moved on from them I would soak the coil assemble the thing and fill. Let set for 5 to 10 minute before hitting it!

Good to hear that it's resolve, Pesaroso!

I think the earlier guesses that the original coil was 2.4, and the replacements are 1.8 is probably what was going on. Makes a huge difference in voltage mode! :vapor:

Many evods come with a 2.2 or so ohm coil which would have required a higher voltage than the 1.8 ohm coil you are now using. One reason a VV batery is a handy thing to have. You can adjust it for different coils, tanks or juices.
