KangerTech Protank Leaking

This is my very first e-cig, and I will admit I'm kind of clueless. My friend helped me pick it out; I believe I have an eGo-T battery (it lasts a week) and a KangerTech Protank. I was assured that it's one of the best tanks you can buy. I loved it for the first week I had it. The woman at the store filled it completely with the liquid I picked out, showed me how to assemble it, and I walked out vaping beautifully. However, since I tried cleaning it myself I've been having serious issues with leaking.

I did not fill it completely because I did not want it to last very long; I got a few different flavors I'd like to try and only have the one tank. I've seen it mentioned briefly online that filling the tank entirely creates a vacuum and helps to keep it from leaking. Is this true? Is the Protank more likely to leak when the fluid level is low? I've been hesitant to fill it up entirely until I solve the leaking problem because I don't want to waste liquid.

Another question; could I have damaged the seals by screwing it back together too tightly? I assumed a tight assembly would be less likely to leak...

I store my e-cig vertically, with the mouthpiece down, because I was told that this would reduce the chances of leaking since it is a bottom-fed tank. I checked that I had all my seals before reassembling, and made sure not to pour liquid into the center tube. By the way, I know that gurgling means liquid has leaked into the center tube, but what about popping? Does the popping sound also indicate a leak?

Thank you!

I have 2 Pro Tanks. Mine leaked like sieves at first when the tanks got down to about half full. finally figured out that it was mostly me though, how I was drawing (too hard) while trying to figure out the airyness of these tanks. But in part also due to Kanger's poor quality control of the flavor wicks in heads (all over the place from one to another). Found that to be true in my EVOD and Mini T3 heads as well. Not near enough wick in some of them, wide open to flooding. I also found that using EVOD heads with a shorter tube gives me a tighter draw for whatever reason, so that's all I have been running in my PT. Anyway, the having to have the tanks full appears to be just a wives tale to me... I've been using mine for days testing my batches of DIY liquids while only putting 1ml or less in the tank. It's working fine, can vape all the way to the start of a dry hit (no juice) with no gurgles, flooding, etc. Regardelss I'll start building my own coils for all the Kanger stuff this week trying different to see what they like... larger silica wicks, some with ss mesh, etc. On the tightening thing, I also over tightened the PT at first when I assembled it. Just snug is good enough if the heads seal is up a little on its tube so it can find its own place on the tanks center tube. Read where one gent turned his seal over (cup side up) to solve flooding, but I never tried it. Also heard to keep them upright, just the opposite of what you are doing. Since I stand my mods up mine are kept upright, so no experience with what you are doing. I'm new at all this too, it just takes trial and error, time to figure them out.
Luck.

I wouldn't store them upside down. I'm hoping an employee at a brick and mortar didn't tell you that. Not only will you get condensation leaking from the mouthpiece onto your table or in your pocket, but having the air bubble in the tank surrounding the wicks for extended periods is just inviting trouble. Definitely keep them upright or sideways.

I'll second spydro, and add that you might also want to make sure that the coil head piece is fastened well to the base. You might not have noticed if you haven't changed your coil heads yet, but you can unscrew the coils from the center of the base (the base is what actually contains the thread that screws on to the tank and mod). so just make sure that the heads are not loose.
