So I have one of these and have had it for almost two months now... I started out using the .5 occ coil and it was awesome but then started giving me burnt flavor hits. So I used the 1.5 occ coil that came with the kit and after only three hits it started tasting burnt. Well I started reading up on how to use the rebuildable deck that came with it but no matter what I do I am getting bad flavored kinda burnt hits.. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix this issue?? I am going to order some 26g coil wire and cotton soon to try and rebuild my stuff.. Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome thank you.

what wattage are you running those coils at?

I run between 12w and 20w depending on the juice right now I am using a juice called steep popdeez 6mg nic caramel popcorn flavor with the RBA on 13W and it doesnt really seam to matter if I drop it lower or not the flavor stays the same.. When I use the 1.5 ohm occ I was running 10w same juice. .5 ohm occ I was running 25-30w same juice and had no issues until it burnt out on me. *shrug* I am newish to this ecig world lol

Are you priming the atty first? A few drops of juice on the cotton before assembly is vital!

Yes I make sure the wick is primed good and then I let it sit for a few minutes before I even try to hit it.

How long did the first coil last, the second may just have been a bad one, happens with ready made coils on occasion!

If you are going to tackle the RBA deck, I'd suggest 28awg wire before 26awg. Little higher resistance, but I have yet to have any burning or burnt hits with my Subtanks unless I go to high in wattage. Generally build them in the 1.2 to 1.5 ohm range and can do 30watts easily depending on the juice thickness (higher VG, slower wicking). Another issue might be the fact that you are using such a sweet juice. Juices that are thick, very sweet, savory, vanillas, caramels, custards, bakeries, tobaccos, darker liquids, several others will collect carbon on the coil and in the wicks quickly.

I didn't care for the STM. It seemed to have a narrow "sweet spot" and the flavor would go flat or taste "burnt", but not burnt like burnt cotton. It spit and popped a lot. Some people think it's awesome. You might not be one of those people. I'm not.

the .5 ohm occ lasted for about a month before starting to change on flavor and then another week before it got burnt.

Yeah, I would be lucky to get a week, but I vape all the "problem" juices @IMFire3605 listed. LOL

Popping and spitting with RBA is too low wattage. Or it's flooding from too little quick.
And a month in the stock head, that's amazing.
RBA takes practice and is really just trial and error. But once you get it you can save allot of money.

Yup, love my sweet stuff too! When you start rebuilding follow IMFire's advice, 28g, and getting the hang of wicking takes practice. You want the wick to slide through the coil with a little resistance, but not enough to bunch up.

Ok. So on the RBA with the coil I have in it it read .5 ohm and I am running it at 13w but if I go higher then that it tastes really burnt. is this maybe due to the way I wicked it?
