I finally found a juice I can use with my Subtank Mini...2 actually! Ended up finding them via my Magma RDA. Unfortunately, I still have no luck with the RBA deck. I bought a pack of 1.2 Ohm coils and a longer drip tip. Thanks to the RDA I found I can actually do lung hits and this juice is very smooth, but I still get some spitting and popping from the OCC coils in the subtank, which is why I got the longer drip tip. I refuse to give up on the RBA deck, though! I think the next time I'm in town, I'm going to stop at the shop where I bought it and see if they can give me some help/advice. Still very surprised/bummed that I can build perfectly on the Magma and can't build for :censored: on the Subtank. Oh well! Live and learn!

Ok, I need someone to tell me if this is just my imagination. I normally use 1.2 ohm coils on the istick 30W at 17.5 W, like 4.7 volts. It took about 6 to 7 tankful's and it really started getting gunky.I use a bakery flavor (strawberry cookie dough) and it really gunks up the coils after a little bit more so than other juices. Even after the first tank the cotton was starting to brown. So instead of replacing with the same Ohm coil I tried the .5 ohm coil, but noticed I enjoyed it at just 20 watts, only 3.4volts. Well, after 1 tank the coil looked almost new. Would the lower ohm with lower watts help with cool gunk? What was even more surprising was the Vapes were very similar, didn't need high watts on the .5 ohm. So...any fact to this?

Here I thought I was going to stock up on 1.2ohm...it may be the .5's

I give it a stab... All you science types please correct me if I am wrong! ;-)

The .5 OCCs contain more wire which translates to more surface area. Given the same amount of wattage (heat) on the coil as a whole that should mean that the heat is spread out wider. This would mean that the actual temp of the wire in contact with the juice & cotton is lower. Also since the wire is bigger the area where the juice is being boiled (vaporized) stays lower down and in closer contact with the cotton. This would allow the cotton to absorb the components in the juice that don't like to vaporize. These are usually sweeteners & tobacco flavor elements. When these hard to vaporize elements get up high on the wire they will stick to it and accumulate. Once stuck to your wire they keep getting cooked over and over with each vape which is where we get those ugly formations of gunk and scale. The gunk and scale will also reduce the efficiency of the coil which leads to things like popping and spitting, nasty flavors. etc.

Since you are using a sweet juice with good results sounds like you might be onto something here. I LOVE sweet juices so I might have to give this a try myself. THANKS FOR SHARING!

Anybody find black o-rings for this puppy? I am not a fan of the red at all. Why? I dunno, they just bug me. Weird huh? Love the unit though.

Multi colored o-rings have been promised to us by Kanger and should be showing up any day now if not already. Haven't seen them for sale yet myself though. They will have black, red, pink, blue and clear... I might have missed one. Keep an eye out and give us a shout back when you find them cause I want some too! :)

I've been reading through this thread....

I'm not a direct lung hitter, and seriously doubt I'd ever be. From reading this thread, I've picked up that if I only use the 1.2ohm coils (or rebuild at 1.2 or higher), use the smallest air position, and use a small bore drip tip, that I should be o.k doing mouth to lung hits.

Does this sound about right?

Do you think it's kind of a waste to get this tank if my intentions are to use it this way? Or do you think that it will still be a vast improvement over say a Mini Protank 3?

Do you think that my nic level would still have to be reduced drastically (as it seems to be with most RDA sub-ohmers) if I'm only using 1.2ohm coils and higher? gotta lot of 12mg juice here:)

Also, what the heck is a "small bore drip tip", is that just a regular drip tip that comes with a mini protank 3? I'm assuming it's just a smaller hole, but not sure you guys mean smaller than protanks.

thanks in advance for your help

I will let you all know if I find any alternate colored rings. I'm sure you will do the same! :–}

Small bore drip tip- (perspective of pic makes it look longer than it is) this is glass and does not heat up at all. easy to clean.

you'd need to drop to 6 or 3mg nic if you like 12 now. the vapor from a subtank is... intense, compared to PT3.

I think you could set up the mini any way you are comfy with it... you aren't obligated to do lung hits, you know. lol... kidding, but you will want to, it's that nice and smooth once you dial everything in.

rba, im liking it so much i chain vape but the damn thing gets too hot even at low watts, need to buy a delrin/pyrex mouth piece, any1 try one yet that fits, in the mean while i need to take a breaks between drags so i get my naut mini out but that thing sucks now, i couldnt put that down when i was using it b4

You have likely not reached the optimal vaping temp for your coil and wicking density. A little too low of a wattage setting can bring on the heat just as fast as a little too high. Find that magic vaporizing temp and it will keep cool. No need really for special drip tips imo; just adjustments to airflow and wattage.

i really liking the subtank mini compared to my kfl+. The draw on my subtank mini with one air hole open is much easier to draw. more flavor, more heat, more throat hit and more vapor but the downside is, my juice is really really fast to consumed. before when using the kfl+, my whole tank can last a day but know with the subtank mini, i can only get it through half day. this is crazy! :D
