  1. please help! I am new to vaping. I am smoking a pack of cigarettes a day so I decided to try vaping. I bought the nano yesterday and am still trying to figure it out so I have a lot of questions. 1) why does my vapor give off a burnt taste?
    2) two coils came in the box but one already in the device. What are the differences in those coils?
    3) also depending upon the coil you are using are there certain settings you should be on with that specific coil?
Sorry if these do not make sense I'm new to all this and don't know proper terms. Please please help!

Hello and welcome to the forum. If your getting a burnt taste it is probably time to change your coil. Your coils should last a week or two before needing to change them as long as they were primed correctly and the tank has not been run dry. The two coils that came with your starter kit are 2 different ohms one of them is .5 and the other is 1.2 I think . now what VG/pg ratio juice are you using also how many watts are you vaping at. A Lil more info from you will help us to better assist you on your path to becoming smoke free

I think that kit comes with a Ni200 coil, too. If so, make sure you only use it in temperature control mode. The coil will say Ni200 on it. The other coils can be used in variable wattage mode. Make sure you prime your coils by dropping a little juice into them, and a drop on the holes around the side. Start with temperature control or variable wattage start low and increase until you find where you like. The two regular coils will have a wattage range on them.

howdy! and welcome!

1) possible you have burnt the cotton on the coil - this can be caused by not priming it prior to vaping (making sure the cotton wicking in the coil head is saturated) or by juice not wicking properly - wick has to stay wet to keep cotton from burning - once cotton is burnt, coil has to be replaced

2) likely the one in the device was the .5 ohm coil and other is 1.2 or 1.5 ohm coil... should say on side of coil head what ohm rating is... those two coils require different wattage levels (i run the .5 around 25-35 watts depending on juice - better to start low, work up slowly to find 'sweet spot'... the 1.2 or 1.5 ohm coil i would likely start around 12-15 watts and work up - likely top end will be no more than 20 watts on those, probably a little lower)... the ohm rating on the coil has to do with resistance - lower ohms (.5) require a bit more power but heat up quicker and produce more vapor, warmer vape - and with a sub ohm (anything under 1.0 ohms, you likely will want a lower nic level juice - typically, if you were using a 12-18mg nic juice on a plus ohm (over 1.0 ohm) coil, you will want to drop to a 6mg nic juice on the .5ohm coil)

3) yes - see above - can vary somewhat from person to person, depending on preferences, but short answer is yes...

keep in mind, trick here is going to be dialing in the basics, then finding what works for YOU

to steam heat's point - what kind of juice are you using? nic level? pg/vg ratio (that impacts both wicking and throat hit when vaping)

you can do this - just gotta breathe and keep trucking - you are on the right path and in the right place

Hi and welcome. The coils that came with your machine are of different values, and will require different settings on the machine and will produce different vapor. The one that tastes burnt probably is, and needs to be replaced. It is necessary to make sure the coil wick is completely saturated with juice before trying to use it, otherwise it will burn on the first try and thereafter be ruined. We'll be happy to help you. Can you tell us what coils you have left? THere should be a number engraved on them, followed by the symbol for ohms, the Greek letter Omega, like this: Ω.

i don't think the topbox nano is a tc device, but great point - if the coil says 'Ni200' or .15ohms on the side, it is going to be a Nickel coil, used for temp control devices - set that rascal aside :)

I don't have one, so you may be right. I was just going by their website. But I know these companies do change their products all the time and don't always update their information.
you are correct - it is a tc device - my bad, brother

Thanks everyone for the help! I just got it yesterday so I didn't think anything would be wrong with the coil. I primed the coil just like states above (thanks to YouTube) and am receiving dry hits now. I still don't know much about the coils though. One that came with it is a Clapton coil. And the other coil says 1.5 not sure how helpful that is. The coil I'm using now is the nickel coil that came with it. I thought maybe my juice might have something to do with it but like I said I'm a newbie thanks everyone for trying to help me! So far I'm lost

Ok, do I understand the Nickel coil is in the machine now? That one has to be run in Temp Control mode, and the power (how much vapor and how warm) is controlled by the temperature you set. The Clapton coil and the 1.5Ω coil should run in wattage mode. The Clapton will require more wattage, 20-30 at a guess, and make more and warmer vapor. The 1.5 coil is intended for mouth-to-lung vaping, the way you'd smoke a cigarette, and will run in the 8-17 watt range. Start low and work up, being sure to prime like the video showed you.
