Oh okay. So I probably messed the nickel coil up by not using temp control? So if I get another nickel I need to leave the wattage alone and focus solely on the temp?
Yeah, I would toss that Ni200 coil if I had used it in power mode. If it is tasting burnt, it's ruined. Throw in one of the other coils. If it has something like 20-70 watts, they are for regular power mode. Start at the lowest wattage on the coil and work up until you're happy with it.
The .5 should be for regular wattage mode. Without seeing the coil, I can't say for certain. But if it had something like 15-60 watts on it, then it is for regular wattage mode.
yup - the .5 coil is going to be a kanthal coil - put it in power or wattage mode (not tc)... start around 18-20 watts and work your way up - i run those coils around 30-35 watts
