Really just depends on what ohms you want to make. The more wire used the higher the ohms will be. Since I use the same diameter wicks, either silica or mesh, i know that my 5/6 wrap will come out about 1.5 to 1.7 ohms. If you have a multimeter you can measure exactly before wrapping.

With the thinner wires, such as 34 and 36 gauge it may be easier to pop a coil. I use 30 gauge for my builds.

So can I get around 2.2 with a 34g wire?? Does having less wraps affect the vape quality?

also the thinner the wire the higher the ohms. i usually lower ohms by twisting the wire, so it gets thicker and you can do more wraps.
more wraps is better so the area of contact by the wire is larger

Twisting the wire? As in spinning the wire together? Like the end of a coat hanger?? Haha I hope that makes sense

This is just my opinion, but I would suggest try wrapping a coil with the gauge you have. I'm not sure the amount (number of wraps) it will take to get the ohms you want, but you could start with a 3/4 wrap. This is where you when you look at one side of the coil you will see 3 wraps and on the other side you will see 4. Once built you can then test with a meter, depending on the device you use or something like this Digital Cartomizer / Atomizer Resistance Tester (Ohm Meter)

If the gauge isn't what you want, then you could buy a lower gauge like 32. Twisting wires works just fine and you can find videos on it, but to start out and keep it simple I would just use 1 wire at the guage that works for you.

Also, like the poster above started the more wraps the more surface area will be heated up and vaporize more liquid.

yes you can. you can buy thicker wire to avoid twisting but i do twist sometimes, cause you know, the long mail adventure :)

You have been great, thank you for your help as it makes me feel a bit better for buying this wire. I will play around and eventually get the 30, or 32g. I guess this is all a part of the fun. I will learn better this way :)
