So as most of you have probably seen, I primarily use 32g Kanthal A1 wire for most of my coils. As upon reading this site and many others 32g is a good middle ground (or starting point). But I'm kind of curious about the Kanthal ribbon and the various other gauges and their impact on resistance, volts required for that speedy light, etc. As you can see, I try to stick to the 2.0 - 3.0 Ohm line with one of my rebuilds dropping into the 1 Ohm level (Rebuilt Kanger dual coil). So my question - is it good to go into the lower resistance (1.9 and lower)? Keep in mind - I own a ProVari and I'm not 100% sure if I can even push the line from .1 - .9 Ohms. Let alone do it safely. Anyone else have any experiences with 3.0 Ohms and higher or at the opposite end of the spectrum - 1.9 Ohms and lower? I was thinking and maybe it's just me, but the thinner the wire - the higher the resistance and the thicker the wire the lower the resistance. According to a datasheet I had seen around the 28g Kanthal A1 gives 5.29 Ohms/Ft, whereas 36g gives 35 Ohms/Ft. So, in the event I wanted my 1 Ohm dual coil build to go up and hit my 2.0-3.0 sweet spot, I should probably use 34g or 36g wire I'm guessing? Because I was looking very closely at purchasing about 200 feet of 36g. I honestly am somewhat curious and since I love to tinker with things, this is probably a bad idea for me.
