Kanthal, Wick, and Ω Resistance Meter

Vapemail just arrived and I got my Kanthal, wick material, and Ω resistance meter. Now, if you don't hear from me again you can assume that I got PI**ED while trying to wrap that tiny wire around the wick and CUT MY HEAD OFF out of frustration!! To prolong the inevitable I've decided to just clean and dry burn my Kanger heads until the coil actually burns out. I figure there's no reason to destroy a perfectly good head when I'm not sure I can give it enough CPR to bring it back around. If it works...don't need to fix it.

I did my first Protank rebuild, it isn't that hard. By the third time you do it, it will take you 10 minutes.

Dont forget to torch your wire and wick first. I give you a big atta boy for getting a meter and doing it with a little safety in mind!

I bought myself this Magnifying Light at staples, 35 bucks and I can see what I'm doing. Works like a hot damn.

I saw a couple of videos on YouTube where they used a lighter. It seemed to heat the wire until it turned red pretty quick. Since I have "a few" of those laying around from my old stinky days I think I'll try that. But THANKS for reminding me that I need to do that first. I had completely forgotten it.

Unless your using the Russain ekowool (not the chinese knockoff wool) you have to torch your wick. I use propane torch instead of butane. I read in a article comparing the 2 that propane burns cleaner, hotter and doesn't leave a aftertaste. Everybody got a propane torch around somewhere. lol

I'm using 32 GA Kanthal A-1 round wire that I got from TEMCo. I just noticed that it says on the roll label that it's already "annealed". Should I believe that or just go ahead and do it myself?

I pickup up one similar to yours (although yours looks a lot nicer than mine) for $24.95 at Hobby Lobby. My sweet little wifey had a 40% off coupon so I got it for about $16.00 with tax. But I will tell you this: nothing beats MAGNIFICATION when you're a geezer.

The reason for torching is mainly for removing any oils soaps waxes ect... that might be present from manufacturing and packaging. 1 because you dont really want to breathe those fumes but most important IMO is you don't want any funky taste in your set up.
