So I picked up this meter at a B&M and thought I wouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Figured all I would have to do is plug in my PV on one end and the Protank on the other and it would give me the resistance of the coil. The coil is 1.8ohm (factory coil) but the reading gives me the voltage of the battery not the head, I guess that makes sense but I want the resistance of the coil and there is no way to power it (a button on the meter). So is this just a battery meter or can I test the coil?

There are Resistance meters also. they are about 25$ Mad Vapes and clouds of Vapor sells them Im sure they can be found at other places also. But it dose not screw on to your mod.

Also those meters are kind of limited Theres a pretty wide range of mods they wont work on. Mostly Chinese PWM the frequency is out of the range of that meter.

I think THIS was what you were looking for. However, anything from THIS LIST will also measure the resistance of whatever you want.

A cheap $10-20 digital multi meter gets my vote. They will check the resistance of your atomizers and much more and even the extremely cheap ones are fairly accurate.

If you use a multimeter to measure the resistance you'll need to short the leads together first and write down the reading (this is the resistance of the meter+leads). Take the resistance reading of the atomizer then subtract the first reading from the second. This will give you the true resistance of the atomizer.

With the ohmmeter from MadVapes all you need to do is screw in the atomizer and turn it on. It will then give the actual resistance of the atomizer without the need for the math.

However, a multimeter can do a bunch of other things at better than half the cost while the MV meter will only do one thing.

I think this is getting a little crazy. Cheap meters average their values anyway to keep the display from constantly changing, so it's not so exact that you would need to consider the leads of the meter. The leads' resistance is trivial and the value from the meter wouldn't be precise enough to accurately measure such a tiny resistance. The cheap meters only get going after 0.09 Ohms. Metering anything smaller is futile unless you have a true RMS (expensive) meter.
