Hi,
As usual old posts are difficult to search and they are closed, so here I am asking what is probably asked and answered a million times.
What are the usual / recommended specs for kathal wire used in coils?
- what is the difference between Kanthal A and D?
- gauge (32, 34, other)? most likely this affects resistance, but also "workability"... which is best?
- "insulated" Kanthal resistance wire like this: does it work? why not? wouldn't it be less likely to short?
In terms of wicking materials, while trying to stay away from silica:
- what are the disadvantages of "ceramic rope"? in theory, it sounds amazing, but I don't see it used too much...
- what are the specs for SS mesh? I see this 400 holes/inch magic number repeated everywhere; are there other specs for thinner/thicker juices? do I care about other variables (hole aperture, hole geometry [square, etc.])?
And finally, any preferred sources? I see eBay being quoted a lot, but are there any 'trusted' vendors there, or any non-eBay places to buy the stuff?
Thank you, and I'm sorry for the newbie questions.
