I use 28 gage for pretty much everything. Dual five wrap micro coils gives me about .4-.5ohms, twisted 6 wrap micro coil gets me a .6ohm single coil, 9-10 wrap nano coil will get me 1.2-1.3ohm for my protank, and even set up the RSST with a 1.2ohm micro coil. I love the versitility that building your own coils gives you.

I use 28 and 32 most of the time. I have 30 on hand too.

I use the 28ga in my RDAs. The 32ga was back when I used to re-wrap vivi nova heads.

The difference - on a 1/16 drill bit, 28 ga. 10 wraps gets me about 1.3 - 1.4 With 30ga that increases to about 1.8ohms and with 32ga. I get about 2.3ohms

For me, the best benefit of using the 28ga is I can go more wraps with a microcoil and not have too high of a resistance. I'm not interested in low ohm builds, 1.3 is seems to work out about perfect for me.

Thank you that helped me a lot in selecting my wire.

Thats an awesome spreadsheet

I have to say my most powerful smokey and flavorful coil was hair thin 38-40? gauge kanthal.

It was from an old soldering iron I have about 60 feet of the stuff from that iron it was tried as a giggle since I didnt have any ordered wire yet and lo and behold it was awesome..
The coil wont last long and its heckuva hardness wrapping it but a 3 wrap single coil I have no idea of the ohms they were uber high on an ego produced more clouds than a subohm dual with huge 2mm airholes on a 5v 4 amp passthru. The 38? gauge was in a homemade cart.. It freakin clouded the whole room from an 808 w adapter battery as well. Battery life with it in my 808 180mah battery was 6 hours chain vaping on the ego it was a solid 12 hours on a 650mah ego.

If only they could last it would be all that I would use.
I have 28 30 32 38 gauges use 30 the most..

There was a post here the other day, I can't remember who. 30 gauge kanthal, 6/7 wrap on a 1/16" bit came out to 1.6Ω-1.8Ω which is perfect for me. That will be my next wire purchase. I mainly use 28 for RBAs and have 32 and 34 but it doesn't get used much, it's just so darn thin and my eyes are old.

hi all.
i just ordered some 32 gauge kanthal and 2 mm wick.
what size drill bit to use for the wrap would get me between 2.2 and 2.5 ohms?
this will be my first attempt at rebuilding and i'm just doing single coil for my ce4's
and ego c upgrades.

regards
mike

I believe this page will help you out with what you are looking for. Regardless of what gauge or ohms you choose, an ohm meter is a must.
