I think it's all about attitude. Go at life with the right outlook, and a genuine sense of decency, courtesy, and consideration, and it will come back to you.

I don't even think it's spiritual. Good karma doesn't come from "the ether", as it were. It's just a mindest that attracts like.

If you have an honest, caring approach to life, you're not likely to get caught up in drama and strife. The kinder you are, the kinder your friends and acquaintances are likely to be. Conversely, if you are a jerk, nice people aren't going to befriend you, or stick their neck out for you.

In this life, we reap what we sow in terms of social interactions. Act like trash and you will be treated like trash. Act kindly, honestly, and with compassion, and people will remember it and line up behind you. It's just simple human psychology.

Lol. Looks like we all need help!

Also, Demon, there's no way we will be able to keep all four cockatiels this time around so hopefully I'll be able to find good homes for them. After hand feeding them they are the sweetest pets ever. The ones we raised before are as tame as tame can be. They love being held.

Ok, sorry for derailing the thread!

I don't believe in karma as reward/punishment per se. I believe that like attracts. When I'm happy, positive, and generous, good things gravitate towards me. When I'm negative, mean, and selfish, not so good things gravitate towards me.

Contrary to what others have said, I am happy, positive, and generous specifically because I want those things for myself. Self interest is part of being human. Own it and make it work for you. ;)

i think the reap what you sow idea isn't as cut and dry as it's sometimes made to seem. otherwise there wouldn't be the other platitudes, "nice guys finish last" and " no good deed goes unpunished."

i think there are also times where one can do what's right and be the good person just to get kicked in the teeth for it - and i think the ratio of that boils down to luck. Good ppl not only attract other good ppl, but also ppl that will use them up, knock them down, kick them to the side and walk away laughing.

and that's not even bringing misunderstandings into it.

Hm. I'm an Atheist. My idea of Karma is really just what this group is about. I'm not sure about how the 'universe' has been treating me nor do I know how it plans on treating me. I just know/feel that the time we spend on earth is all that matters (Religious - Please take no offense, this is just my personal belief and I would never attack yours) so I try to make it as pleasant for everyone as I can. That simple. When I die, I want people to say "That Lynne... She was a great person. I won't ever forget her." not "What a ......" so, that's my Karma.

hahahaha. Yeah Sallana is just an internet handle but I answer to it IRL so either or. :)
I always thought it was a really pretty name honestly. My daughters name is Savannah, and if my son was a girl we were going to keep with the "S" theme and name her Sabrina or Sienna or Sierra.. but, he was a boy lol

Really near the mexican border.
I believe what goes around comes around, only it comes around 10 fold.
So if you do good...it comes back to you 10 fold good. If it's something you do that's not good....it also comes back 10 fold to you in a very bad way....most people do not what is happening when they have bad things happening to them.

I think my handle says it all. I belive in Karma. I think it is a force of nature, like gravity or the wind.
While we can see its influence we are unable to percieve it in its entirity.

It does seem that for some individuals it is not a immediate affect, but I do belive that eventualy all that we do comes back to us.

Unfortunately my Karma seems to be swift and mercilous, with long, deep seated resentments. LOL.
Maybe I was just a lot worse that I thought when I was younger.

I believe in doing good things for a multitude of reasons... be it karma, upbringing, reward, .. I don't think it really matters. I am constantly amazed and thankful for all that is given to me, that I feel compeled to give in return. For example: my TV was given to me, so in return, how can I sell the older TV I want to get rid of? I can't, mine was given to me, so I want to give mine away to someone else. Whether that gives me good karma, makes me feel good, or gets me brownie points with a higher power, that doesn't really matter the reasoning, for I think we all do it for different reasons, and sometimes each do it for all reasons at different times.

I also believe we make our own worlds. I think our heaven and hell is right here on earth. Sometimes we can control these things, sometimes we can't.. but I believe if we live our lives in a good way, then we can contribute to that bit of "heaven". For example, when walking down the street, you can choose to look down at the ground and miss the things around you, you can choose to look up towards the sky and get lost in dreams, or you can look straight ahead and see what is right beside you. Those things I think we have a choice in making and shaping our of own worlds.
If something happens, (though it may be something bad) we can choose to view it in a good light (say as a learning lesson) or we can wallow in our own pity or view it negatively. These are ways that effect who and what we are, and I believe, have a greater impact on our lives than we realize.
I try and talk to people, interact, smile, chat, whatever... any where that I go. Not only does it bring joy into someone else's life, but it enriches my own.
Is this karma? I don't know. It may be, in a sense; because I am good to someone else, it makes my own life good. Is it wrong because I am gaining something too? No, I don't think so, I think it enriches my life by the choices I make because it makes my life better.
Does that make sense?
