Hopefully everyone's having a good start to the Memorial Day weekend.

Got the lawn tractor at camp running again, thankfully. One of the deck blades loosened at the end of last season. It's not technically difficult to pull the deck, I just needed time. I put a new blade in while I was at it (still have the second blade to do).

Don't change it while it's running :)

At least your's sounds like it worked out,my maintenance jobs i've been doing the last few days have all been failures haha.I have 2 weed trimmers i've been trying to get going,1 i finally realized just needs a new primer bulb and maybe fuel lines, the other i think needs a carb rebuild or a new carb altogether. Then i also have 2 chain saws i've been trying to get going.Replaced the carb, primer bulb, and fuel lines on 1 already, and it will now start after about 20 minutes of pulling haha, but then overheats and stalls after about 10 minutes of cutting. Now i have to replace the carb, fuel lines, bar, and chain on the other so i can hopefully have a good running saw.Not a fun last few days haha.

Ooh, time for coarse grind kawvee [emoji5] The French press also works great for cold brew, set it on the counter top for 1 hours, then press and decant into a pitcher (use about 6oz volume of coffee to 30 oz of water for cold brew); it's stellar [emoji5]

We're supposed to be moving into a house by the end of summer. I have mixed feelings about yardwork in the summertime. I think the grandkids should do the mowing. Then I can focus on a garden!

Good luck with the lawn tractor.
You stay away from the heat & yard work, Missy! Grands can do yard work. I was 11 when I started mowing. Before that I walked the yard & picked up sticks & things. Then I added edging & then mowing. I was so happy when self-propelled mowers came out! But no more yardwork for me. Nope, nope, nope.

Yes, ma'am. You don't have to tell me twice!

I was the oldest. So, I did lots of mowing, raking, dirt spreading, rototilling, furniture moving, etc.

The dirt's not too bad when it's freshly dumped. Not so much the next day after all the kids sneak out to play on the dirt and pack it down. Raking is always hard work.

Mowing isn't too bad except for the heat and sweating into your eyes.

The oldest grandson is about to graduate from high school. He's really good about doing the heavy stuff.

Once he's gone, watch out. The middle one is lazy! It's like he takes it as a personal challenge no to do anything. And, I really do mean challenge. Like we're attacking him or something.

I do feel bad that I can't do more. Some people my age still do a lot!

I feel the same way. I do well to get the groceries in & some cleaning done. My mind says to do it all. My body says nope!

Growing up, I thought I was SO strong.

It was quite a shock to get out in the world and discover that I wasn't. Not only were men half my size stronger than me. But, I wasn't even particularly strong for a woman. And, I didn't get truly out in the world until my divorce. So, I had already had about 10 years of adulthood to get really settled into the illusion that I was big and strong.

As I get older, I discover that I am also mortal!

I tried so hard to be "normal." Now my problems are mostly on the right side of my body. Wear and tear. Now I will be going out to my garden with hiking poles and no ankle-brace, sitting on a little bench to weed. Clothing down to minimum because of the heat. My right leg is not happy, and neither is my left foot. Just getting older. Will be hydrating like a fish once I return.

If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself!
If only I would have known what the problem was, I would be in better shape today. Got it all done except for yarn around the garden, as a NO! NO! for the maintenance guy. Kale does look like a weed, and I planted it in the corners.

Only an hour, I note.

Just finishing off my first batch of French Press coffee. This is going to be a beautiful relationship.
I tried so hard to be "normal."
I too strived to be "normal". It turns out that "normal" doesn't even exist, except maybe to mean generic, without depth and detail.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself!
Hindsight is 20-20 and all that.

Summer's getting closer - reworking the canopy on our boat [emoji5]

The original PVC top section sagged, I'm redoing it with 3/4" emt. All of the major parts are filled with siliconed dowels, while the diagonals are just doweled on the two ends.

The joints are structural connectors, a big screw pins each pipe section. Super easy to repair if anything has a problem.

Everything is sprayed with cold galvanizing paint, which has worked well with other parts.

Be careful h don't over do it! That just causes more problems.
I was pretty strong, I guess. We moved ourselves several times. Helping with lifting & carrying furniture, appliances, & boxes. Loading & unloading. We didn't have boys in the family & Dad didn't treat us like we were weaker. Mom tried to, but we just did what needed to be done.

Still need to get fuel lines and a primer bulb to get a weed trimmer going, but i did figure out a very simple solution to get a chainsaw going......buy another one haha.I found a great deal on an almost new saw on Craigslist,so for as low as i got it for,i couldn't pass it up.Now i can slowly rebuild the saw i really want to fix and not have to try and rush to have one running.

DW wanted anther Arbor with a raised bed, for some hanging melons. I built this for her - 7-1/2' tall x 5' wide. I finished installing the diagonal braces and staining today, perhaps tomorrow will be stapling on the fencing for the vines to climb. All that will then be left is a pair of trim boards (no rush).
